Material Coordinator - Personal Property Movement (PPM)

Location: Fort Meade, Maryland - Fort Meade Army Base

Type: Non-Exempt
Work Schedule: Full-Time

Compensation: $30.70-$30.70/hr + $2,500 sign-on bonus

Skookum is seeking a detailed orientated and reliable Material Coordinator (PPM) with a can-do attitude.

Typical duties include but are not limited to:
  • Determine mode and method of transportation based on weight of shipment, pack and pick-up dates, and destination location.

  • Compute shipment costs of property to determine excess costs when shipments involve both authorized and unauthorized movements.

  • Receive, review, and process correspondence, official orders and applications for transportation or storage of a wide range of personal property and privately-owned vehicles to the Joint Personal Property Shipping Office

  • Conducts and/or participates in individual or group orientation briefings on entitlements for shipping and storage of personal property and privately-owned vehicles to domestic and overseas locations for all authorized military and civilian employees

  • Assists personnel who choose to personally move their household goods on orders called Personally Procured Move.

  • Utilizes word processing software and printing equipment to create, copy, edit, and print a variety of standardized documents and performed other clerical and administrative task in support of the transportation work.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience in DOD Travel preferred.

  • Knowledge of Army travel regulations and military travel orders.

  • Experience working with DPS and eTOPS. Proficiency in MS Office programs, especially Word and Excel.

  • Must possess a depth of knowledge of various modes of travel and travel regulations and excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Must be able to provide customer assistance in a professional and courteous manner.

Requirements:

  • Valid State Driver's license required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Skookum's insurance company.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances as background checks will be conducted for this position.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and site access. Multiple background checks including Medium Risk Public Trust background check will be conducted for this position.
