Napa, California - Direct Hire

ARC Group is seeking a skilled Systems / Data Center Engineer to join our client in Napa, California. Our client, a leading healthcare provider in the U.S., is experiencing growth and needs a candidate experienced in supporting a large-scale computing environment with in-depth knowledge of data center operations. This role is primarily on-site, with the option to work from home one day per week.

Candidates must currently have PERMANENT work authorization. Please do not call from a third party / C2C asking to share candidates. Sorry, but we are not considering any candidates from outside companies for this position.

This is a direct-hire permanent position working 4 days onsite / 1 remote. Job Description for the Systems / Data Center Engineer


  • Lead off-site media storage by controlling and tracking media, maintaining proper media transport and receipt procedures, and ensuring HDD erasure, degaussing, and destruction procedures.
  • Provide local data center asset tracking and reporting from receipt through initial installation.
  • Offer mid-level support for raised floor incident resolution, including physical equipment and power distribution monitoring.
  • Ensure all personnel accessing the data centers are accounted for, trained, and authorized.
  • Identify data center business continuity services and implement requirements.
  • Be a member of the data center Building Emergency Response Team (BERT) and support continuity planning, develop formal communications and training, create emergency evacuation documentation, conduct testing, and perform training.


Essential Systems / Data Center Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Complete assignments and support business-specific projects by applying subject matter expertise and ensuring team adherence to procedures and policies.
  • Provide first and second level support to resolve complex and sensitive problems with products and applications, meeting customer service standards.
  • Troubleshoot complex problems in conjunction with customers and escalate issues to senior staff as necessary.
  • Follow and develop standard operating procedures, track and document problems and resolutions, and support the compilation of information related to new technology.
  • Assist with disaster recovery and business continuity processes and events.



Requirements of the Systems / Data Center Engineer:

  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience as a Data Center Engineer, Systems Engineer, Network Engineer or similar role supporting a large-scale computing environment.
  • At least one (1) year in an informal leadership role working with IT or operational teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, with a minimum of six (6) years IT experience in a support or operations environment. Equivalent work experience may substitute for the degree requirement.
  • Experience working in a data center environment, ideally on a large scale.
  • Understanding of cabling, servers, or networking within a data center.
  • Experience with cabling/server installs, commissioning, and decommissioning.



Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years of experience assisting with data center continuity planning.
  • Three (3) years of large-scale data center experience.
