Job Description Summary
The Chief Operating Officer ( COO) maintains and directs strategic, organizational, and administrative leadership for the operations of the university with regards to human resources, legal, risk and insurance, contracts, information technology, facilities and procurement. The COO will report to the President and serve on the Leadership Team of the University.

Responsibilities
Responsible to model the University's Mission through dedicated job performance, service excellence to constituencies, respectful collaboration and active support of the University's Mission as a Catholic and Lasallian institution of higher education.

-Oversight of the maintenance and improvements of the physical assets of the university. Oversight of all capital expenditures. Preparation of a three-year capital budget including identifying and prioritizing projects.
-Responsible for effective stewardship of all university assets and resources of personnel and property.
-Oversight of services necessary to maintain efficient and effective facilities, information technology, human resources, and operations to meet the needs of the university's students, faculty, staff and constituents.
-Oversight of human resources including compensation and benefits and overall wellness of the employees of the university. In consultation with the President, oversight of the review and approval of all hiring to ensure positions are critical and essential. Ensure compensation is reasonable, equitable and in accordance with the university's compensation philosophy. Ensure all positions are refilled or added where appropriate to maximize the financial health and strategic direction of the university. Optimize human resource allocation to maximize efficiency and net revenue growth.
-Review, monitor, and negotiate contractual agreements of the university. Directly responsible for the significant operational and facility contracts such as but not limited to: custodial, dining, and facility leases.
-Responsible for response and resolution of all legal matters
-Serve as the Leadership Team representative for the university's risk management committee, maintains risk registry. Responsible for reporting university risks to the Leadership Team an Board of Trustees Audit Committee.
-Serve as Executive Secretary to the Compensation and Human Resources Committee of the Board of Trustees
-Present to the Audit, Legal, and Risk Management Committee of the Board of Trustees in regards to all legal matters, risk mitigation plans, and adequacy of insurance coverage
-Present to the Finance and Infrastructure Committee of the Board of Trustees in regards to all facility and information technology operations, capital expenditures, infrastructure needs, and long-term strategic planning
-Ensure appropriate oversight and coverages for the University's policies and practices on risk and insurance
-Oversight of all legal and corporate filings for Federal, State, and Local renewals, and licenses
Minimum Qualifications
-Minimum MBA or relevant Masters
-Relevant and extensive experience in administration, management, budget, and financial planning preferably in higher education or a not-for-profit setting
-Ability to analyze and effectively communicate financial and budget information in area of oversight to a variety of constituents, including developing financial models to reflect multiple scenarios and strategic outcomes
-Ability to negotiate contracts with various vendors for maximum benefit to the university
-Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills with a high degree of personal and professional ethics, character and integrity that inspires trust and confidence
Preferred Qualifications
PhD in related discipline
Essential Duties
Work hours
Full time; typically Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm. Occasional nights or weekends as required.
