Peer Support Specialist

The Serenity Center in Woonsocket is looking for a Peer Support Specialists. This is a drop-in center that offers adults in recovery fellowship, fun and support. Serenity Center is a warm and inviting space built around and dedicated to the belief thatAddiction Recovery is Possible.

Individuals must have lived experience of mental illness and addiction who will serve as role models for peers; educate peers about self-help techniques and effective coping strategies; help peers clarify goals for rehabilitation and recovery; and help peers develop natural support systems. Advocate for clients, and maintain a relationship with the client that fosters trust and understanding distinct from a provider role. It is critical that individuals maintain excellent communication skills, active listening, and maintain a professional demeanor.

Education License/Certification Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent. Have successfully completed and passed a Co-occurring Peer Specialist training program endorsed by BHDDH and possess (or be eligible for) IC/RC state certification (CPRS).In addition, have maintained, within the last three (3) years, at least 12 months of successful full or part time paid or voluntary work experience (not necessarily consecutive) or one year post-secondary education experience totaling 24 credit hours. Valid drivers license, auto insurance and reliable vehicle required. Bilingual applicants encouraged to apply!
