Security Officer (MGM National Harbor)

THE JOB:

A security officer plays a vital role in safeguarding people, property, and information by patrolling designated areas, monitoring surveillance equipment, and responding to alarms and emergencies. They enforce security procedures, detain trespassers or violators, and report any suspicious activities or incidents to authorities. Through their vigilance and proactive measures, security officers help maintain a secure environment and mitigate potential risks.

STARTING PAY: $23.00/hour

THE DAY-TO-DAY:

  • Comprehensive Patrol and Monitoring: Security officers patrol all areas of the property, both interior and exterior, using bicycles or company vehicles for thorough coverage. They vigilantly monitor surveillance cameras and the alarm system to swiftly detect potential breaches and irregularities.
  • Guest Service and Emergency Response: Providing excellent guest service is paramount. Security officers address complaints and issues involving guests and employees promptly and professionally. Additionally, they act as first responders in emergencies, rendering first aid as needed and following established reporting protocols.
  • Gaming Transactions and Reporting: Security officers handle gaming drops and transactions with precision, ensuring the integrity of gaming operations. They meticulously document daily activities, irregularities, and incidents, such as property damage, theft, accidents, or unusual occurrences.
  • Dispatch and Emergency Management: Doubling as dispatchers, security officers relay information and emergencies to appropriate personnel using telephones or two-way radios. In emergency situations, they secure the scene, advise personnel of threats, summon emergency responders, and conduct evacuation procedures as necessary.
  • Training and Proficiency Maintenance: Security officers are required to attend and pass recurring mandatory training in legal, defensive tactics, first aid, CPR/AED, maintaining proficiency in the use of all assigned equipment.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver's License
