Job Description

Manages, hires, trains, disciplines and evaluates the performance of Imaging Services support staff. Plans, directs and supervises all technical aspects of the imaging department. Ensures appropriate usage and maintains appropriate levels of supplies. Maintains departmental short- and long-term administrative goals; oversees QA program.

Job Responsibility




  • Provides leadership to Imaging Services team members and supervisors by communicating and guiding toward achieving department objectives.
  • Develops, communicates, and builds consensus for goals in alignment with the health system.
  • Maintains services in accordance with the standards established by the department; The Joint Commission, state, local and federal regulatory requirements; maintains existing equipment and contractual services, as required.
  • Functions as technologist and responds to emergencies, as necessary Coordinates with service engineer preventive maintenance, repair and documentation.
  • Mediates individual problems and refers to the leadership unresolved problems, relating to staffing, morale, scheduling, work matters, procedures.
  • Represents department in administrative conferences, as required.
  • Assists in the preparation of annual operating budget; implements and monitors operating budget; provides input to budgeting related to regional radiology services.
  • Manages and implements appropriate data collection of information needed to monitor clinical, operational, and financial outcomes, as well as department QA/QC standards; coordinates quality control program.
  • Coordinates continuing education program for the technical staff within area(s) of responsibility.
  • Selects, develops, manages and evaluates staff; ensures performance appraisals are completed in a timely fashion; counsels employees, disciplines, and implements progressive discipline, and changes in personnel status.
  • Collaborates with leadership in developing and implementing programs for scheduling patients and coordination of schedules among all diagnostic imaging divisions.
  • Interfaces with patient, staff and physicians both within and external to the department to facilitate the improvement of the patient experience.
  • Works to improve Press Ganey Scores via patient satisfaction initiatives.

Job Qualification




  • Bachelor's Degree required in radiologic technology or related field, or comparable experience.
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology, Nuclear Medicine or Ultrasound Technology program, required.
  • Current license to practice as a Radiologist in New York State, and Current Radiology Technologist Certification in New York State required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
  • 5-7 years of technical experience and 2-5 years of leadership / management experience, required.
