The Proteomics Core of the UC Davis Genome center is a state-of the art proteomics facility that provides cutting edge mass spectrometry based proteomic and protein services along with amino acid analysis to the UC Davis campus and off campus customers. These services include but are not limited to; quantitative proteomics profiling, protein interaction analysis, protein identification, and amino acid analysis.

Job Summary

Under supervision, perform critical duties involved in Liquid Chromatography tandem mass spectrometry-based proteomics.

Responsible for sample preparation, digestion of samples, database searching of mass spectra data, setup, analysis and quality control on nano-scale LC/MS/MS instrumentation.

Perform sample tracking and billing, dissemination of data to facility customers and billing for services provided.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Position responsible for safety regulations, reporting requirements, record keeping and disposal of chemicals and radioactive chemicals in a laboratory setting.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in protein chemistry, microchemistry, or related field, or an equivalent combination of EDUCATION and/or related experience.
  • Experience using state of the art mass spectrometers including Thermo Scientific and Bruker systems.
  • Experience with proteomics same preparation including enzymatic digestion and magnetic bead processing.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):

  • Skills to participate in training activities and oversee student personnel.
  • Knowledge of computer data analysis and dissemination including, excel, and R.
  • Knowledge of lab MANAGEMENT and maintenance, safety regulations, reporting requirements, record keeping and disposal of chemicals.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Education/Experience:

  • Experience with Proteomics data analysis software including DIA (Spectronaut, DIA-NN) and (DDA) Fragpipe.
  • Experience with magnetic bead processors like the King Fisher.
  • Experience with tissue preparation for Proteomics including homogenization and protein assays (BCA) B83.
