We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago for a Senior Systems Specialist- AMAI on our AMA Insurance team. This is a hybrid position reporting into our Chicago, IL office, requiring 2 days a week in the office.

As a Senior Systems Specialist- AMAI, you will performs structured and comprehensive end-to-end testing of
internal and external software. Develops
test requirements, test strategies, test plans, test cases, outlines, and
checklists for new and upgraded software.
Follows adopted software quality assurance testing standards and
identify potential opportunities for improvements. Participates in the
definition and clarification of user project requirements and develops test
plans to support the business goal.
Functions as the lead on projects involving multiple testers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

User Acceptance Testing and Plan Development

  • Creates test plans that parallel the production administration and claims processes with a focus on how users process transactions within the system.
  • Develops and/or improves testing strategies and approaches that help streamline and improve testing accuracy.
  • Works closely with Technology and business staff to ensure accurate, controlled, positive and negative testing is conducted within the time frames established for each project.
  • Completes all required testing documentation that confirms testing results.

Project Requirement Definition, Verification and Training

  • Participates in business requirement definition meetings to ensure testing strategy matches user project goals.
  • Prepares testing related user documentation for systems changes and enhancements
  • Act as liaison with business units to assist with resolution of system problems and answer questions regarding system functionality.
  • Research problems and suggest system "workarounds" as short-term solutions until problems can be corrected.
  • Develops and conducts user training for new/enhanced system functionality prior to implementation when appropriate.

Model Office Testing Management

  • Manage the quality assurance activity on large scale projects, working in conjunction with the Information Systems Team Leader and other Model Office staff.
  • Communicate project activity to appropriate business "customers" and Project Team participants.
  • In large scale projects, oversee the development of the test plan for all testers, plan testing assignments and schedules for MO staff.
  • Coordinate and track problems identified during testing.
  • Lead any training activities related to the implementation of the project.

May include other responsibilities as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Associate's Degree or equivalent work experience in an IT environment.

2. Minimum of 3+ years' prior experience in a Model Office or Quality Assurance testing position in a similar environment required.

3. Experience in the life/health insurance industry in functional business areas such as customer service, underwriting/issue, billing and collections, claims, or marketing preferred.

4. Certification by one or more insurance programs such as LOMA (Life Office Management Association, HIAA (Health Insurance Association of America) or ICA (International Claim Association) is preferred.

5. Excellent interpersonal skills; perceptive listening. Able to work in a team environment.

6. Analytical aptitude.

7. Excellent writing skills and the ability to clearly translate user needs to business environment.

8. Excellent time management skills.

9. Good understanding of life and health insurance contracts and those provisions that translate to system requirements.

10. Proficient in Microsoft Suite of software including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
