Job Summary

As the Director of Retail Distribution, you will be responsible for overseeing the construction management of all retail store builds, remodels, refreshes, and other retail-related construction projects. Reporting to the Vice President of Retail, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful execution of projects while adhering to tight timelines, following policies and procedures, and fostering collaboration across internal and external partners and vendors.

Responsibilities

Project Management:

  • Lead the planning, execution, and completion of retail construction projects from conception to final delivery, ensuring adherence to budget, schedule, and quality standards.

Budget and Timeline Management:

  • Develop and manage project budgets and timelines, closely monitoring progress and implementing corrections as needed to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, building codes, and company policies and procedures. Identify and mitigate project risks to minimize disruptions and delays.

Pre-Construction:

  • Support the Real Estate Team in deal negotiation and DOP process, including reviewing LOIs and lease drafts, preparing REC budgets, developing project schedules, and tracking LL work.
  • Manage architect and design support, including overseeing the construction document process, permitting, and bidding processes.

Construction:

  • Manage construction progress, including weekly updates, photo reviews, tracking critical path milestones, OFI deliveries, RFI/submittals, and vendor work.
  • Conduct site visits as necessary and provide project updates to business units.
  • Ensure cost, schedule, and quality targets are met through weekly site photo reviews and management of change orders.
  • Oversee punch list completion, store turnover to Operations, final inspections, and warranty work.

Post-Construction (Close Out):

  • Collect all required close-out documents, including as-builts, project cost reconciliation, and TAB reports.
  • Issue repair and maintenance playbook to Operations and manage warranty work.

Collect TIA and establish R&M contracts.

  • Provide feedback on the build process and archive project information
Qualifications
  • B.S. or B.A. degree
  • Minimum of 10 years in retail construction management with a proven track record of consistent delivery against business plans and targets
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to develop comprehensive project plans, allocate resources effectively, and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal teams, external vendors, and senior leadership.
  • Sound knowledge of construction principles, building codes, zoning regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Strong leadership qualities, with the ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams to achieve common goals.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.

Pay is competitive and based on a number of job-related factors, including skills and experience. The starting pay rate/range at time of hire for this position in New Yorkis$141,372.00-$232,254.00 / year. For other locations, please inquire with your recruiter.
