About the Role
The Gaming Tax Accountant will be a key member of BetMGM's growing Finance team and be heavily involved in building and maintaining the gaming tax and regulatory accounting and reporting processes. In this role the Gaming Tax Accountant will work closely with the Revenue Audit Team, Tax Department, Financial Controller and all areas of the business. A successful candidate will exhibit a keen attention to detail, strong finance/accounting & business instinct and the ability to work both efficiently and effectively in an ever-changing environment. Above all, the candidate must be passionate about what they do!
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the completion, review and filing of State Gaming Tax Returns for BetMGM.
- Support the Regulatory Reporting Senior Manager to ensure the firm is compliant with all gaming tax rules and internal controls across all relevant jurisdictions.
- Automate and refine existing Gaming Tax-related operational and compliance processes.
- Become knowledgeable in BetMGM's revenue cycle and reporting process and assist in performing month end reconciliations.
- Work with the general accounting team on all Business Intelligence related data issues and solutions.
- Provide support on relevant internal and external audit requests.
- Perform ad-hoc requests for the wider finance team as required.
Essential Functions
- Must be able to stand or sit and operate computers and other technological devices for extended periods of time
Qualifications
- At least 1 to 3 years of accounting/tax and reporting experience
- Strong Excel skills and comfort working with large data sets
- Ambitious self-starter, proactive and passionate about finance and business
- Strong inter-personal skills with the ability to communicate, describe and explain
- Strong attention to detail
Licensing Requirements
As an online gaming company, BetMGM is required to comply with state gaming regulations which includes licensing obligations. Applicable employees must be licensed by at least one jurisdictional agency, although certain positions require licensing by multiple agencies. Failure to become licensed or maintain licensure with each agency as required for the role may result in termination of employment. Please note that the licensing process includes comprehensive background checks which may include a review of criminal records, financial history, and personal background verification.
