OVERVIEW:

The SF Social Services Case Worker will provide support to the SoMa Social Services Hub Coordinator with a focus on helping with case management of clients and assist with the various duties associated with social services in SF Metro.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Provide intake for services to social service clients
  • Provide case management to individuals through Pathway of Hope
  • Answer phones and retrieve messages for the SoMa Social Service Hub
  • Refer individuals/families to available resources both internal and external
  • Maintain case files for clients as assistance is provided
  • Screen clients and complete applications for rent and utility assistance when available
  • Utilize the Salvation Army Social Services software system to track services provided
  • Assist with the collection of monthly statistics of services and assistance provided
  • Assist with the supervision of volunteers at SoMa Social Service Hub Food Pantries and provide additional support with pantries as needed
  • Assist with screening of clients and make appointments to receive assistance at the Clothing Room as needed
  • Assist with all aspects of the Clothing Room; check-in/check-out of clients, stocking, processing of clothing and the supervision of volunteers as needed
  • Assist with intake and distribution of seasonal and non-seasonal social services events
  • Other related duties as required


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:



  • High School diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Bachelor's degree (preferred)
  • Experience as an Administrative Assistant (2 years preferred)
  • Experience with Microsoft programs


SKILLS AND ABILITIES:



  • Bilingual in Spanish (preferred)
  • Ability to maintain integrity and confidentiality
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Great communication skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of Salvation Army city programs, practices, policies and organization (preffered)


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:



  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. (usually file boxes)
