Job Description

Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced research administrator to independently develop and / or oversee research federal and non-federal proposals, pre-award 'just-in-time' requirements, and maintains contract and grant records in compliance with institutional research and sponsor policies. Is responsible for reviewing, modifying, and submitting proposals prepared by Principal Investigators from Health Sciences and General Campus and submitting to a wide variety and volume of sponsors. The position engages with the broadest cross-section of the UC San Diego research community, is deadline-driven and makes sound judgement under significant pressure, with large volume of activity. The position incorporates a diverse scope of responsibilities where analysis of data requires thorough understanding of complex regulations, policies and administrative requirements. Completes and approves transactions subject to the delegated signature authority assigned to the position for extramural sponsored research proposals. Provides guidance and expertise on complex proposals that may involve multiple investigators and / or multiple sub awards. Ensure the proper commitment of University resources, verify adequate proposal pricing, coordinate compliance with aspects of special review (Human Subjects, Animal Subjects, Conflict of Interest, etc.), and address conformity with both University and sponsoring agency regulations. Review pre-award document terms and conditions of moderate complexity and risk for acceptability/compliance with University policies. Analyze problems, formulate options, and coordinate resolution of post award and policy related issues. Act as liaison between the University and the sponsoring agencies. Acts as a Lead member of the team for purposes of mentoring and training, and exhibits advanced experience to support team members in the wide variety of sponsors and C&G complexities. QUALIFICATIONS
Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $67,200 - $119,600 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $32.18 - $57.28 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
