TETRA is evolving its business model by expanding into the low carbon energy markets with its chemistry expertise, key mineral acreage, and global infrastructure. Low carbon energy initiatives include commercialization of TETRA PureFlow, an ultra-pure zinc bromide clear brine fluid for stationary batteries and energy storage; advancing an innovative carbon capture utilization and storage technology with CarbonFree to capture CO2 and mineralize emissions to make commercial, carbon-negative chemicals; and development of TETRA's lithium and bromine mineral acreage to meet the growing demand for oil and gas products and energy storage.

Essential Duties:



  • Establish close working relationships with the Project Management Team and other Key Business Partners surrounding project initiative efforts
  • Coordinate with Project Director, Project Controls Manager and other project functional leaders and their teams to translate project plans, resource utilization and timelines into financial forecasts, annual budgets and free cash flow projections that are aligned with the global division, regional roll-ups, and overall corporate guidance
  • Analyze project economic performance, including monitoring of key financial performance indicators across the consolidated strategic projects
  • Schedule ongoing Project Financial Reviews with the Project Management Team and key executive sponsors to proactively communicate status of project expenses, identifying potential risks and forward-looking projections
  • Prepare & present financial summaries of projects to Project Management team, Chemicals Leadership team and Executive Management Team
  • Collaborate with Project Director, Project Controls Manager, and broader Project Management Team to:

    • Ensure comprehensive project budgets (including change orders), cost recognition and estimates for completion are updated and accurate within the ERP and other applicable systems
    • Maintain the accuracy of reported project financials including billing plan, overdue payables, cost to complete, cost overruns, percentage of completion, risks & contingencies, change orders and accruals
    • Evaluate project cash flow versus planned cash flow model within contract and escalate significant deviations for resolution
    • Monitoring key internal and third-party supplier transactions to ensure timely payment once goods/services have been provide
    • Follow up with applicable internal functions when actual cost postings are delayed versus project progress


  • Coordinate and collaborate with other internal teams surrounding ongoing project efforts to include:

    • Coordinate with Accounting team to ensure timely and accurate monthly close and financial ledgers
    • Manage and maintain all financing compliance reporting to ensure accuracy of project investments into individual operating entities and coordination with ongoing due diligence efforts


  • Coordinate with Treasury team to ensure adequate funding needs in each operating entity to enable project development timeline
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis and general planning support as needed
  • Utilize critical thinking and analysis to drive and lead change


Requirements:



  • EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field; M.B.A. preferred
  • EXPERIENCE: 7-10 years' experience (minimum) in following areas:

    • Large greenfield building and construction project cost management
    • Percentage of Completion Accounting Experience (strongly preferred)
    • Developing cash flow projections
    • Manufacturing/Costing experience a plus
    • Strong economic modeling (DCF, NPV, large project investment) skills preferred


  • INDUSTRY: Chemical manufacturing industry experience a plus but not a necessity
  • TRAVEL: 50% over first 2 years
  • OTHER:

    • Strong leadership skills, ability to influence Senior Management
    • Prior working knowledge of ERP/Financial Systems & Applications; JD Edwards preferred
    • Solid time/project management skills and demonstrated ability to balance multiple tasks
    • Ability to "think on your feet" and respond constructively with action-oriented ideas during meetings with Key Stakeholders and Executive/Senior Management


  • LOCATION: The Woodlands, Texas
  • REPORTING: This position reports to Director, Finance - Chemicals & Low Carbon Solutions

This individual will primarily work in the office although field operational visits may be necessary from time to time. TETRA promotes a Flex schedule with 1 flex day per week to accommodate everyone's balanced schedule. While working remotely, the individual is still responsible for performing all assigned tasks as would in a designated business location.

The work environment requires an individual used to a fast-paced workplace, which may require managing multiple tasks, deadlines, and priorities. Being a self-starter and good communicator is essential to succeed in this environment.
