Job Description

TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I, Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research-Knouse Lab, to assist with the development of tools for high-throughput functional genomics in mouse tissues in a position that offers an exciting opportunity to work independently or semi-independently on your own research project with mentorship from a senior lab member or Kristin Knouse. Responsibilities will include participating in the design and execution of your research project; and analyzing, recording, and organizing data generated from experiments. Experiments will involve cloning, protein expression, lentivirus preparation, animal injections, tissue harvesting, flow cytometry, DNA isolation, and DNA sequencing.


Job Requirements


REQUIRED: bachelor's degree in biology, biomedical engineering, or related field; at least two years of relevant lab experience (which may include experience gained as an undergraduate); experience with one or more of the following technical areas--mammalian tissue culture, standard molecular biology techniques (e.g., cloning and PCR), protein isolation, western blotting, flow cytometry, and mouse handling; working knowledge of general laboratory practices and procedures; excellent problem-solving, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills; willingness to work with animals; ability to work both independently and as part of a team; self-motivation; comfort summarizing and reporting results to researchers; commitment to exceeding quality standards, providing exceptional services, and producing accurate and high-quality work; meticulous attention to detail; practiced documentation skills; and awareness of basic safety issues and how to follow safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment.
