Summary
University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis (UHSP) is looking for a passionate professional to serve as our Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (ODEI) Student Support and Programming Coordinator. In this role, under the supervision of the Director for ODEI, you will be responsible for the development and execution of services that helps the University achieve its diversity strategy and goals. The ODEI is a vital contributor to the University's mission to foster a healthier society. As we develop the next generation of students entering healing professions, the ODEI helps to ensure all members of our campus community are valued, experience belonging, and have what they need to succeed.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

Coordinate International Student Support Services
  • Serve as the University primary designated school official (PDSO) partnering with other campus designated school officials (DOS), enrollment services and other campus departmentsfor enrollment, retention, fostering belonging, graduation and career placement.
  • Provide information and service to support students successful transition including but not limited to access financial institutions, healthcare, transportation, food and lodging, personal and cultural connections in the community, and language assistance and employment.
  • Support student organizations with an international focus (e.g. Bosnian Heritage club, Asian Student Association, International Student Association, etc.)
  • Serve on departmental and other campus-wide committees as needed

Campus-Based Student Development and Support
  • Develop and deliver diversity, equity, and inclusion programming and education within the undergraduate and graduate curriculums in collaboration with student organizations and the Director for the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
  • Support ethnic and culturally focused student organizations
  • Lead and manage the ODEI's cultural spaces such as theMulticultural Center, Spirituality Center and Interfaith Prayer Room
  • Provide referrals, guidance, and intervention for students with underrepresented identities who may be experiencing difficultly navigating institutional processes, or marginalization due to cultural differences; work in concert with relevant student services and advocate as needed

General ODEI Responsibilities
  • Research, collect, analyze, and disseminate data that provides information to support and enhance diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives
  • Assist with the development and delivery of an employee and staff diversity, equity, and inclusion training program
  • Initiate and manage grant funding efforts to support diversity and inclusion initiatives at the university
  • Supervise student staff
  • Lead and manage the ODEI's cultural spaces such as the Center for Health Equity and Pharmacy Careers, Multicultural Center, Spirituality Center, and Interfaith Prayer room
  • Participate on Committees as assigned
  • Perform other related duties as assigned


Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you will need:

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in higher education, college student affairs personnel , or a similar field
  • Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated organization and project management skills
  • Ability to present effectively to small and large groups
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
  • Able to address multiple tasks simultaneously and work under tight deadlines
  • Able to work independently and in a team environment
  • Proficient in computer skills and use of presentation software

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in higher education,college student affairs personnel, or a similar field with a minimum of three years of related experience
  • Experience supporting international students and ESL learners transition to the US
  • Multilingual
  • At least three years of experience developing and facilitating programs for college students
  • At least three years of experience in higher education diversity programs
  • Knowledge of diversity education, student development theory, program delivery, and assessment
  • Grant writing and research experience
  • Workshop facilitation skills
