Purpose of Position

The Account Receivables (AR) Analyst position at EJM is a visible and critical component of the Finance team and its cash management operations. The AR Analyst's role requires a balance of customer engagement, cash collection and cash application activities, evaluation of customer remunerations and the facilitation of an effective and efficient AR function. The AR Analyst maintains and improves cash flow through proactive monitoring of customer accounts, ensuring compliance with internal controls and identifying opportunities to improve AR processes and systems. The AR Analyst also demonstrates a strong customer-service orientation and a commitment to maintaining positive relationships with EJM customers.

Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Initiates and manages collection efforts for overdue accounts. Communicates with customers to address payment issues and negotiate payment plans if necessary. Provide an in-depth overview of how collection efforts are progressing for management.
  • Work in close collaboration with the AR Administrator to oversee accurate cash application, and serve as the primary backup for AR Administrator.
  • Reconciles AR sub-ledger to GL, prepares AR month end schedules and metrics used for internal reporting.
  • Maintains AR records to ensure aging is up-to-date, credits and collections are applied, uncollectible amounts are accounted for, and miscellaneous differences are cleared in the GL.
  • Performs daily cash management duties, including the recording of bank deposits, updating and distribution of cash receipt logs, and posting cash to the accounts receivable sub-ledger.
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date records of transactions and customers profiles in the accounting systems and relevant databases.
  • Collaborates with internal teams, such as Owner Accounting and Accounts Payable, to assess and suggest remunerations to customers and to address customer related issues and improve overall financial processes.
  • Identifies opportunities for process improvement within the AR function and implements efficiency measures to streamline AR process.
  • Assessing the creditworthiness of customers by running credit checks before sending it to management for review and approval.
  • Ensures compliance with accounting principles, company policies, and relevant laws and regulations.
  • Recommends write offs and ensures communications are documented.
  • Completes ad hoc reporting, research and account reconciliations as needed for customers and management.

  • Strong financial skills and understanding of financial concepts and business principles

  • Time and process management, including the ability to prioritize multiple simultaneous deadlines, set priorities, and work under pressure
