Manufacturing Supervisor (Value Add)

Who we are looking for:

We are currently searching for a Manufacturing Supervisor to be based out of Hobart, IN. Reporting to the Value Stream Manager, this person will be responsible for supervising staff with an emphasis on teamwork, continuous improvement, and accomplishment of safety, quality, delivery, and cost. The ideal candidate will have 5 years relevant supervisory experience. Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a plus.

What you'll do:



  • Audits product and processes to ensure conformance to specifications and directs set-up and adjustments of machines.
  • Assures compliance of company policies and safety regulations with employees.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures or schedules to meet customer's requirements.
  • Implements changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiencies of shop, department, and work crew.
  • Partner with Safety and/or HR to investigate, resolve and provide corrective measures for accidents, injuries, production, and personnel issues.
  • Maintain consistent and fair labor relations with employees.
  • Ensure that the team honors our Atkore core values of Accountability, Teamwork, Integrity, Respect, and Excellence in all aspects of their daily work.


What you'll bring:



  • Bachelor's degree in operations management or engineering nice to have.
  • Minimum of 5 years of previous supervisory experience in manufacturing.
  • Experience in steel manufacturing strongly preferred.
  • Experience in spot welding and weld testing strongly preferred.
  • Experience using forklifts and other Power Industrial Trucks.
  • Technical background in maintenance, industrial, or manufacturing engineering required.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Lean Management experience a plus.
  • AS400 and/or JDE experience a plus.
  • Basic computer skills to include understanding of Microsoft Office.


Within 3 months, you'll:



  • Complete your Atkore immersion program.
  • Understand how your job will help deliver Atkore's strategy.
  • Gain an understanding of your team.


Within 6 months, you'll:



  • Gain an understanding of the current training materials and procedures your team owns.
  • Partner with the Value Stream Manager and Engineering to start identifying short- and long-term process improvement ideas.
  • Identify ways to strengthen the team's commitment to Atkore's core values of Accountability, Teamwork, Integrity, Respect and Excellence.


Within 12 months, you'll:



  • Create, update, and share training materials and documentation.
  • Have meaningful performance conversations with team and operators in areas supported.
  • Be able to resolve any issues quickly and safely.
