About the Role
BetMGM is seeking an experienced Vice President of Technical Operations to provide hands-on leadership for the team responsible for the planning, deployment, operation, and support of our production digital and retail platforms for the company. This group provides standard ITSM services to BetMGM. This role will also lead cybersecurity, retail technical operations, service management office, and solutions and testing within the BetMGM technology department.
This role will be a key senior role within technology and be part of the senior technology leadership team, collaborating with the Director of Technical Governance and Director, Incident Management and Enterprise Support. This position is under the supervision of the Chief Architect.
In this leadership position, the VP, Technical Operations will explore new technologies and software as appropriate and in conjunction with the Chief Technology Officer, will oversee the architecture and implementation of ongoing support of the network, server, and communications infrastructure to ensure high performance of the IT department.
Responsibilities



  • Oversee and manage BetMGM Cybersecurity team and policies
  • Develop IT strategic plans, policies, and procedures to ensure that the department operates effectively and reliably
  • Create a cohesive strategy for online gaming technology operations
  • Direct all IT Delivery activities
  • Own SMO, retail technical operations, all technical solutions and testing, and ITSM
  • Serve as product owner for technology operations backlog
  • Develop service level agreements (SLAs) for the help desk
  • Manage vendor relationships
  • Manage the new hybrid office approach
  • Provide senior technical expertise and support to all direct reporting teams
  • Ensure support models are in place for all new state rollouts
  • Manage Kanban boards to monitor, adapt and improve
  • Ensure the evaluation of emerging technologies
  • Attend relevant sprint retrospectives
  • Ensure agreed SLAs are met and report on any exceptions
  • Responsible for the continuous review of existing technology operations, to enhance performance and/or operational costs
  • Ensure the removal of technical resource silos and technical debt
  • Provide full transparency through the use on online dashboards and metrics
  • Responsible for ensuring we meet regulatory SLA for all technical responses
  • Responsible for monitoring KPI's, involved in establishing OLA
  • Ensure that all team members adhere to agreed upon operational processes
  • Ensure engineers are encouraged to participate in the technical guilds and provide guidance on guild initiatives
  • Promote use of DevOps culture
  • Promote an honest and transparent culture



Essential Functions


  • Must be able to stand or sit and operate computers and other technological devices for extended periods of time


Qualifications



  • Bachelors or advanced degree in technology preferred but not required
  • Strong experience in the online gaming sector, minimum of 5 years' experience
  • Strong experience in technology operations sector, minimum of 10 years' experience
  • Extensive expertise on computer software and hardware, including servers and systems
  • Experience in working in a highly regulated industry
  • Process enhancement - in this role, IT managers develop and implement policies and procedures for the IT department, so some familiarity with assessing and improving processes is vital
  • strong written and verbal communicators, able to communicate with team members, management personnel, and end users throughout the organization
  • Problem-solving skills - this role also requires excellent problem-solving skills, especially when it comes to directly addressing user issues with software, hardware, and servers
  • Budget management - IT operations managers oversee department budgets and capital expenditures, so they need strong financial management and budgeting skills
  • Extensive experience in managing geographical dispersed teams and systems
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Strong management and interpersonal skills - capable of communicating and influencing at all departmental levels and with both technical and non-technical individuals
  • Strong technical background; with experience in the following areas:

    • Network technologies; LAN, WAN, MPLS, VPLS, BGP, etc.
    • Server technologies; Linux (Red Hat), Unix (Solaris), Windows, VMware, etc.
    • Storage technologies; SAN, Storage Array, Enterprise Backup
    • Cloud, private, external, hybrid
    • Automation, puppet, chef, vendor orchestration tools
    • DWH
    • Corporate Office support


  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with a strong service focus
  • Experience working with geographically dispersed teams
  • Experience in managing in high data volume and high security environments
  • Driven, robust, self-motivated, delivery focused and able to withstand 24/7 pressure, and to challenge and be challenged
  • Drives change and continuous improvement - thrives on change and is continually looking for new ways to improve operations and capabilities

As a online gaming company, BetMGM is required to comply with state gaming regulations which includes licensing obligations. Applicable salary ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. The position is also eligible for an annual bonus.
