ITG Director of Engineering: Client Experience Technologies

As Director, Engineering; Client Experience Technologies (CXT), you will be responsible for shaping and executing the strategic direction of the organization's global software engineering solutions across the Global Client Groups. You will develop and communicate a compelling vision for the software engineering team that aligns to the CXT vision and needs of the Client Group Business. You will balance the goal of delivering business value in a reliable and timely manner with the need to ensure compliance with standards and regulatory requirements by leveraging industry best practices and tools.

In this role you will oversee a team of software engineers while fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning. You will be based in Irvine and report to the Client Group Chief Information Officer.

More specifically, you will be responsible for:
  • Establishing CXT technology as a competitive and differentiated software engineering practice.
  • Helping define and implement the strategic direction for CXT's global capabilities (CRM, digital, content, and data and reporting); defining vision, goals, and objectives for each, ensuring alignment with overall CXT strategy.
  • Collaborating with leadership team, clients, and other cross functional teams to understand business needs and translate into actionable, forward-thinking, scalable technology solutions. Identifying and evaluating emerging technologies, tools, and platforms to enhance technical capabilities.
  • Evaluating and optimizing current portfolio of technology and delivery partners based on capabilities, expertise and in alignment with Capital Group's requirements. Assessing vendor relationships for opportunities to consolidate services, streamline operations and achieve cost savings. Monitoring vendor performance against agreed-upon SLAs and KPIs, ensuring adherence to contractual obligations.
  • Establishing and promoting software standards, methodologies, and best practices within each global capability's domain. Ensuring that each pillar operates in line with industry standards and continuously seeking opportunities for improvement.
  • Establishing and enforcing technology governance policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Conducting regular technology risk assessments and implementing appropriate controls to mitigate potential risks and vulnerabilities.
  • Motivating and inspiring software engineers to work toward common goals, ensuring shared understanding of roles in achieving CXT's vision. Lead, mentor and build high performing teams that embrace diversity and bring varied perspectives; provide clear expectations, regular feedback, and career development opportunities.
  • Establishing clear performance metrics for your team; regularly assessing progress and providing recognition for achievements

  • You are an inspiring technology leader with experience driving successful technology transformations and facilitating change within a large-scale, complex environment.
  • You are credible and influential, able to communicate strategic and highly complex technical information to diverse stakeholder groups and audiences at all levels.
  • You set clear and challenging goals and are driven for you and your team to realize improved performance and results.
  • You possess 15+ years enterprise software engineering experience or knowledge.
  • You have a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field.
  • You demonstrate technical depth and breadth and are fluent in aligning and optimizing delivery and software engineering practices. Previous experience implementing critical business systems is an advantage.
  • You have expertise in evaluating and managing vendor relationships.
  • You have experience transforming a legacy environment into a modern, scalable system with efficient, interoperable solutions supported by the latest technologies.
  • You have experience defining and implementing operating models and simplifying operational processes leveraging technology.
  • You possess commercial acumen, are knowledgeable about the business environment, and can translate key business objectives and customer needs into an effective software engineering strategy and plans.
  • You have a global mindset and consider all of Capital Group's operating regions when evaluating impact and making key decisions around technology, software engineering, and people.
  • You have demonstrated yourself as a leader in initiatives beyond your immediate scope.
  • You have an innovative mindset and lead and develop teams by setting the tone, driving business results, investing in their development, and overseeing their performance.


Southern California Base Salary Range: $244,854-$416,252

In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital's annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
