Job Description

RESEARCH SUPPORT ASSOCIATE, Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research-, to assist in providing support to an exciting team interested in the delivery of mRNA for vaccine applications. Will assist with experimental studies with small rodents, e.g., preparation work; giving injections via various routes such as intramuscular, intravenous, subcutaneous, intradermal, intranasal, etc.; tissue imaging; harvesting tissue and blood collection; and ELISA. Responsibilities will also include in vitro studies, various assays, formulation, etc.; equipment maintenance and repairs; assisting with laboratory inventory; documenting results of experiments; researching and gathering information for projects; conducting bibliographic searches for literature leads and references; and updating manuals and procedures for the laboratory researchers. All necessary training will be provided for the accomplishment of the listed tasks. Will report to and have experimental efforts supervised by a postdoctoral researcher.


Job Requirements

REQUIRED: high school diploma or its equivalent; computer skills; practiced documentation skills; meticulous attention to detail; a commitment to exceeding quality standards, providing exceptional services, and producing accurate and high-quality work; an awareness of safe work practices and the ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment; willingness to work with animals; discretion and judgment with confidential information and/or issues; strong interpersonal and communication skills; and comfort summarizing and reporting results to researchers. PREFERRED: bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) in biological sciences, exposure to a research lab, working knowledge of molecular biology and genetics, and experience in the ethical and humane use of animals (especially mice) in laboratory research.
