Introduction

The Prince William County Police Department is seeking a talented, customer-service oriented, analytical individual to provide day-to-day law enforcement professional support as an Administrative Technician in the Police Records Bureau.

As an Administrative Technician, you will have a great opportunity to further develop your professional and analytical skills by learning the many aspects of processing criminal Police records, records retention skills, crime statistic data processing and gain experience in a public service-oriented environment. This role works under general supervision yet once experienced, the candidate is expected to be self-motivated and work with a team or independently on a number of different Records related tasks.

ABOUT THIS ROLE:
The position is responsible for analyzing customer requests (citizens, law enforcement agencies, and other government agencies) promptly and courteously, answer incoming calls, data entry, and other essential professional administrative tasks. The successful candidate is able to review records processes and determine the final disposition for a multitude of police-related Records tasks and process criminal records for submission to the State. MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or G.E.D. and 1 year of administrative support experience.

PREFERENCES:
The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience providing administrative support in a front office environment, preferred but not required,
  • Experience with analyzing and processing data in a law enforcement environment, preferred but not required.
  • .Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, as well as the ability to multi-task and successfully prioritize workload.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Previous experience in a public sector or law enforcement agency, is a plus, but not required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and Teams
SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS:
Work Schedule: The selected candidate will work within Prince William County, Monday - Friday, from 8:00AM - 4:00PM, excluding recognized County holidays.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
All employees considered for hire by the Police Department are subject to a Polygraph Examination and a thorough Background Investigation.

ENTRY SALARY RANGE: $20.43 -$25.86 Hourly
