The Activities & Wellness Manager plans, organizes, develops, and directs the overall operations of a wide and varied scope of activities program which meets the social and recreational needs of the resident population at large. Ensuring regulatory requirements are maintained, followed and within standards and scope of expectations.
- Plans and develops, organizes, implements, directs, and evaluates a wide and varied scope of activities and programming which meets the physical, social, cognitive, emotional and recreational needs of the resident population.
- Determines individual resident interests and expectations regarding leisure time.
- Develops an activities and fitness program that is both sufficiently diverse and sensitive to our resident's requirements and needs.
- Creates activity and fitness calendars and coordinates distribution to residents, team members and resident representatives as appropriate. Advertises events well in advance of their scheduled times.
- Provides leadership, instruction, and monitors the work of the activities and fitness team members. Supervising and participating in events alongside team members and residents.
- Ensures that Activities team members comply with Federal, State and County requirements related to documentation, including daily participation records, monthly events, progress notes, and clinical notes, etc.
- Plans, communicates, and evaluates Collington's fitness and wellness program. Shares updates, cancelations, and program changes with residents through various methods including print, email, and phone.
- Interacts with various vendors to provide activities and fitness programs to residents of all levels within the community. Purchasing or leasing supplies for all activities.
- Acts as the liaison for the pool company; overseeing that annual contracted services are fulfilled.
- Participates in yearly budget planning process; identifying and justifying payroll and departments fiscal needs.
- Collaborates effectively with all levels of staff regarding resident's needs and expectations; providing overall leadership as warranted.
- Provides an environment that promotes and supports an active, healthy and independent lifestyle in accordance with the abilities of each individual resident.
- Bachelor's degree with a minimum of two (2) years supervisory experience; two (2) years of experience in Activities or related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with the Geriatric population; thorough understanding of the dementia process and its impact on programming and wellness.
