The AI & Computational Science (AICS) team at Novartis Biomedical Research is dedicated to revolutionizing drug discovery through AI. Our mission is to accelerate the development of transformative medicines for patients worldwide. AICS is seeking a highly motivated and experienced leader in the field of Chemistry-based AI/Machine Learning to drive the frontier of drug discovery. In this role, you will have the opportunity to take on a leadership position at the intersection of scientific research and real-world impact.

Key Responsibilities:
As a leader in Chemistry-based AI/Machine Learning, your key responsibilities will include:
*Demonstrating a deep and broad understanding of generative, discriminative, contrastive machine learning (ML), and other cutting-edge methods.
*Possessing an extensive understanding of computational chemistry and the AI-based methods employed in this domain.
*Leveraging your experience in Chemical Space exploration and/or Computational Drug Discovery to drive innovation.
*Leading efforts in AICS that focus on Generative Chemistry, working closely with a team of talented scientists.
*Taking a hands-on role in delivering on multiple highly visible projects, ensuring timely and successful outcomes.
*Serving as a prominent ambassador for AI & Data Sciences at Novartis by presenting and publishing influential articles and research findings.
*Building strong bridges between academia, technology, and industry partners to foster collaboration and drive progress.
*Staying ahead of the latest developments in the field, continuously expanding your knowledge, and mentoring associates to enhance their expertise.
*Being an integral part of a truly unique organization that nurtures an inter-disciplinary team of highly accomplished scientists who are driven by curiosity, a love for learning, and pushing the boundaries of AI in drug discovery.

This opportunity is located at the Novartis Cambridge (MA) site and will not have the ability to be located remotely. Relocation assistance may be available.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $212,000 and $318,000 per year; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/23 through 12/31/23, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Role Requirements

Role Requirements
*An advanced degree (master's or doctoral) in a quantitative fields including but not limited to Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Astro/Physics, Computational Chemistry, all relevant engineering and science disciplines
*9+ years of relevant thought leadership/publication track record in machine learning applications and AI/ML methods
*12+ years of experience in end-to-end analysis for large scale data sets
*Cross-industry experience highly preferred and previous experience in pharma, biotech, or healthcare desired
*Demonstrated expertise and a deep understanding of generative, discriminative, contrastive machine learning (ML), and other state-of-the-art methods.
*Extensive knowledge and understanding of computational chemistry and the AI-based methods utilized within the field.
*Proven experience in Chemical Space exploration and/or Computational Drug Discovery, with a track record of impactful contributions.
*Strong leadership skills, inspiring and guiding teams to achieve exceptional results.
*A hands-on approach, ensuring the successful delivery of high-profile projects.
*Exceptional communication skills, allowing you to serve as a compelling ambassador for AI & Data Sciences at Novartis through presentations and publications.
*A talent for building impactful connections and collaborations between academia, technology, and industry partners.
*A passion for staying at the forefront of the field, continuously learning and mentoring associates to foster growth.
