POSITION SUMMARY:

Multi-skilled individual with primary responsibility to maintain equipment in a proactive manner; identify, troubleshoot and repair both mechanical and electrical abnormalities on all distribution center equipment. Perform all preventative maintenance as scheduled to reduce downtime and increase equipment reliability. Build operator technical skills and capability

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain Distribution Center Equipment
    • Identify defects, execute maintenance plan and troubleshoot equipment.
    • Work in various areas of the DC: Case and Layer Picking, Shipping& Receiving Dock, Rail Dock, etc
    • Understand Power distribution system (up to 480 volts)
    • Control systems - Basic PLC, Motor, sensor, drives and Basic electrical circuits, Basic understanding of device communication networks
    • Mechanical system - Hydraulics, Pneumatics and Mechanical Drive systems
    • Troubleshooting and problem solving skills to maintain, optimize and improve processes and performance, with key indicators such as safety, quality, and cost.
    • Review maintenance plans and optimize to drive reliability of equipment.
    • Review required spare parts to keep maximize technical warehouse service factor.
    • Reviews and reads engineering drawings (electrical and mechanical)
  • Build capability
    • Coach operator skills- on operation and troubleshooting existing process and equipment.
    • Build technical procedures for proper operation and maintenance of equipment
    • Train other technical resources and needed
    • Use of continuous improvement tool such as TPM / Lean
  • Computerized Maintenance Management System (AMM) - Access and utilize AMM to accurately
  • document all maintenance activities in AMM
  • Identify and create Work orders
  • Perform time entry and technical feedback on work performed
  • Analyze data to improve the maintenance plan
  • Improve / Create necessary task list
  • Analyze line performance data and provide line improvement support based on findings and analysis.

REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL:

  • High school Diploma or GED
  • Two year Technical Degree in Electrical/Maintenance related area such as Maintenance Technical/Mechanical, Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Maintenance, Electronics technology or Electrical and Automation or equivalent work experience.

REQUIRED SKILLS and abilities:

  • Strong Mechanical skills (Hydraulic, pneumatic & mechanical drive systems, and Principle of operation)
  • Welding, fabrication and machining skills
  • Electrical skills (NEC, AC & DC circuits, 480V power distribution, industrial wiring).
  • Basic Electrical circuits
  • Basic PLC / hardwire logic circuits knowledge
  • Knowledge and use of test equipment (amp meter, megger, etc)
  • Knowledge of Motors, Drives, sensors.
  • Read and interpret machine, electrical and facility drawings
  • Familiar with CMMS and Production Work Flow/Control systems.
  • Ability to be self-managed performing work unsupervised, re-priorities as necessary
  • Must demonstrate a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Good communication skills with operators, other technicians and resources.
  • Ability to analyze data and make decisions/recommendations based on analysis.
  • Ability to integrate into all parts of the operation to support the facility in achieving our goals & objectives
  • Able to work in a team environment where honest communication, a positive attitude, engagement, and personal accountability is expected.
  • Able to work off-shifts, weekends & extended shifts (i.e. 10 hrs., 12 hrs.)
  • May require internal & external certification such as Sanitary welding, vibration, thermography, etc.
  • Understand how automated equipment and its components work.
  • Remain proficient with the operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of industrial electrical control systems, electromechanical systems, instrumentation, and fluid power.
  • Properly use mechanical and electrical tools and diagnostic instruments.
  • Understand the operating principles and function of the electrical control and power components and circuits utilized in automated equipment.
  • Operate, troubleshoot, and diagnose industrial circuits used in control and distribution.
  • Obtain and maintain certifications required by Nestle policies (ie Arch Flash, LOTO, PTWs, etc)
