Position Description

This position is primarily responsible for supporting the Manager of Financial Reporting with the preparation and/or supervising the preparation of various SEC filings, internal management reporting, accounting research and related documentation/communication, and internal controls compliance.

Position Accountabilities



  • Prepare and/or oversee the preparation of workpapers supporting filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
  • Review workpapers prepared by others supporting filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
  • Assist in ensuring SEC filings are complete, accurate, and in compliance with the applicable standards.
  • Assist in the preparation, analysis, and review of internal management reports (including monthly financial reports to the Company's Board of Directors).
  • Assist in ensuring that policies and procedures regarding financial reporting are well documented, maintained, and operating as designed.
  • Primary lead on (or assist in the preparation and review of) XBRL taxonomy for the Company's Form 10-Q and 10-K.
  • Liaise with other teams across the Company to represent the needs of Financial Reporting to ensure completeness and accuracy of reporting as well as assist in improving company-wide processes related to reporting.
  • Work with cross functional teams when the Company is required to implement new accounting and/or disclosure standards and document results in position papers to be shared with management, internal auditors, external auditors, and regulators.
  • Recommend procedural changes and process improvement opportunities to streamline the financial reporting process, anticipate problems, and enhance the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of the reporting process.
  • Assist the Manager of Financial Reporting with coordinating professional services with third party experts related to acquisition accounting.
  • Assist in the preparation of the financial statements related to select employee benefit plans.
  • Perform accounting research as needed and document results in position papers to be shared with management, internal auditors, external auditors, and regulators.
  • Coordinate and interact with internal and external auditors.



Organizational Relationship

This position reports to the Manager of Financial Reporting and resides within Corporate Finance.

Position Qualifications

Education & Experience



  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance (advanced degree preferred)
  • CPA required
  • Four to seven years of related experience, preferably in a financial institution
  • Public accounting and/or financial reporting experience preferred
  • XBRL experience preferred



Knowledge & Skills



  • Working knowledge of functional area operations, products, services and related compliance/regulations
  • Experienced in applying GAAP to a wide range of transactions.
  • Experienced analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Advanced PC skills including word processing and spreadsheet, database and automated accounting applications (principally excel).
  • Professional written, oral and interpersonal communication skills necessary to provide information and courteous responses to internal and external personnel.
  • Willing to support teammates and be a team player
  • Flexible, able to adapt to change and learn quickly

Salary offered will be based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. This position is also eligible to participate in either an applicable incentive compensation plan for the position or a discretionary profit sharing bonus program.
