Your Opportunity

The Human Resources Generalist partners with Smithfield's HR Field Operations leadership team and business partners, supporting a wide range of HR specialties in the field operations' space, including the organization and analysis of metrics, assisting with project management of several HR initiatives, participation and/or leading continuous improvement programs that help clarify/align the field HR community and provides overall support for the HR field operation team's initiatives, goals and objectives.

This role will be an integral member of the HR team, focused on helping the field HR team be great business partners, help make great business decisions and ensures the team remains focused on positively impacting the people experience through cultural alignment, succession planning and project management support for a variety of strategic and administrative initiatives.



Salary Range

$54,000 - $90,500



Core Responsibilities

    Provides generalist support to the Field Senior HR leadership and Regional HR Directors and may be the back up for the HR Business Partners as required
  • Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Recommends and leads HR Continuous Improvement projects to align, integrate and streamline HR processes, policies and practices
  • Assists with day-to-day Field HR initiatives
  • Monitors and tracks field operations' metrics such as turnover, retention, "plant health checks" and other metrics defined by the Senior HR Leadership Team
  • Partner closely with the broader HR team in carrying out various human resource programs and procedures for all platform employees.
  • Assists with onboarding of new field HR team members
  • Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of HR department and services performed.
  • Assist with internal and external HR audits; participates in the collection and submittal of supporting documentation for review; assists with responding to audit inquiries and recommendations.
  • Provide project management support for HR initiatives:
    • Document and socialize project scope.
    • Establish project plans and target timelines.
    • Identify, resolve, and escalate issues, risks, action items, and decisions.
    • Develop and deliver reporting and tracking of project budgets, when relevant.
    • Document and report project status to key stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Human Resources, Business Management, or related field and 2+ years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.
  • Proficient analytical skills, ability to learn internal systems and metrics and consolidate data for use in determining program effectiveness
  • Experience with project management of continuous improvement programs in HR
  • Ability to effectively juggle multiple projects, meet deadlines and prioritize work with autonomy and flexibility.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment with the ability to prioritize and multitask efficiently.
  • Embraces and helps the team lead change management initiatives
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong sense of urgency and accountability
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to partner across departments and influence outcomes.
  • Ability to develop trusting relationships to gain support and achieve results.
  • Experience working autonomously, making sound judgments, and providing appropriate recommendations.
  • Effective written/oral communication skills, strong presentation, and facilitation abilities.
  • Ability to understand the business operations from both a strategic and tactical perspective
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Power Point)
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
