Volkswagen in Chattanooga, Tennessee is looking for our next class of Robotronics Technology Expert (RTE) Students! Volkswagen Chattanooga Operations is growing, with its, Atlas Cross Sport and the all-electric ID.4 being assembled there alongside the ever-popular Atlas.

The Robotronics Technology Apprentices will complete a two-year apprenticeship program which combines robotics, programing, electrical, electronics, computer and controls systems into a design useful for advanced manufacturing. The apprenticeship program is a partnership between Volkswagen Group of America and Chattanooga State Community College and based on the German AHK.

• This apprenticeship combines multiple industrial maintenance disciplines into a systems approach for troubleshooting and resolving problems in an automated manufacturing plant.
• The apprenticeship program runs 3 semesters throughout the year. Students will go through a total of 6 semesters including academic and on-the-job training semesters.
• Students are enrolled in Chattanooga State Community College during the apprenticeship program and will receive an Associate's Degree in Applied Science upon completion.
• Academic semesters consist of classes in the Volkswagen Academy, which are taught by Volkswagen and Chattanooga State instructors. Students receive hands-on-training in programing, electricity, pneumatics, programmable logic controllers, robotics, computer numerical controlled machining, fault analysis and automation. On-the-job training semesters take the apprentices into the plant where they work in the various departments to apply theories and skills in an advanced manufacturing setting and gather work experiences
• The apprenticeship is paid after an 8 month probation period.
• This apprenticeship program is designed to develop the best trained, multi-skilled Robotronics expert in the automotive industry.
• The schedule for academic semesters is from Monday to Friday, 8 hours a day. The schedule for on-the-job training may vary by department.
• Team wear is required and provided along with appropriate PPE.
• A conditional job offer is made at the end of the apprenticeship program based on performance, exam scores, successful completion and business needs.

Required:

• High School diploma or GED
• Able to apply for college with a minimum of 19 on the ACT or able to pass a competency test
• Need to apply and be accepted by both, Volkswagen Chattanooga Operations and Chattanooga State Community College
• Commitment to learning and development
• Ability to follow instructions

Preferred:

• Math Skills
• Hands-on experience in mechatronics / electrics / information
• Problem solving skills
