Scope of Work:

The goal of this CAD Design / CAD Administration intern is to provide opportunities for students to gain real work CAD Design experience in the Consumer-Packaged Goods and Food Processing Industry. A main objective is to help students develop professionally in a progressive manner with an increasing amount of responsibility. During this position, you will be working directly with and under the supervision of an experienced CAD Design Engineer / CAD Administrator to meet the company goals pertaining to Capital Engineering and Supply Chain projects.

Responsibilities:



  • Create drawings and 3D models from written and verbal specifications obtained from internal and external customers. Expectations include piping, structural supports, structural platforms, manufacturing equipment and architectural spaces leading to accurate representations of design intent.
  • Complete drawings referencing detailed markups from Engineers or peers with the ability to interpret and understand the drawings and the markup intents while understanding the systems as a while. Expectations include Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) and electrical schematics.
  • Develop a working knowledge and proficiency with industry standard Autodesk design tools including AutoCAD 2D/3D, AutoCAD Plant 3D, Revit, Navisworks Manage and Autodesk Vault.
  • Perform on-site inspections of facilities related to as-built compliance (both pre and post project), field verification of spatial needs, and ideation for design optimization.
  • Working with multidisciplinary teams including personnel from manufacturing, product development, analytical research, quality assurance, industrial engineering, electrical engineering, packaging systems engineering, equipment manufacturers, and installation contractors.
  • Understand and maintain application of Company drafting standards and design documentation archival.
  • Apply industry standard Good Manufacturing Processes, Sanitary Design, and Safe Design methodology in all related design work. Designs will respect all applicable building codes and comply with all regulatory guidance; OSHA, FM, FDA, EPA, and "Hershey" design preference.
  • Install, configure, and implement CAD related software applications.
  • Interface with service providers to ensure all CAD software is maintained, secure, and provides best applicable technology for the Company.
  • Manage, organize, and protect documents, including optimization of Vault file management systems. Understand and configure Vault for engineering, design, and general operations use.
  • Provide technical support to system end-users maximizing tool availability and end-user ability to function within CAD environments.



Education:



  • Must be a student majoring in an engineering, engineering technology, CAD design or other related technical degree.



Competencies:



  • Passionate with a strong desire to make a difference, intellectually curious, and able to deal with ambiguity and to learn on the fly.
  • Communication proficiency - ability to interact with all customers and external providers verbally and in written form enabling efficient idea and thought crossover.
  • Problem solving & analysis - ability to use logic and reason to identify opportunities. Ability to thoroughly understand a problem, perform research and testing through trial and error to find a solution.
  • Proficiency with common Windows based computer software programs, including Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Experience or familiarity with AutoCAD, other CAD software, and a basic understanding of programming is preferred.

  • A valid Drivers' License and a means of reliable transportation.
  • Availability to work 40 hours per week.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to our North American manufacturing facilities.
  • Availability to work on a flexible schedule from time to time.
