Job Summary and Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY

The Critical Care Transport RN is responsible to the EMS Manager and the Director of ICU or designee for the delivery of quality patient care utilizing the nursing process. The quality of care given will be consistent with the philosophy and objectives MCFR/ORMC, and will maintain and support current, evidenced based standards of nursing care and practice in order to meet the health care needs of patients, their families and the community.

The CCTRN performs basic life support, advanced life support and critical care nursing. The CCT RN/CCPM provides direct patient care to the ill and injured during the transport along with MCFR. The CCT RN functions under the orders of a physician credentialed through Ocala Health.

MAJOR FUNCTION

The CCTRN is equally responsible for, as part of a CCTRN configuration, assessment, triage, treatment and evaluation of critical pre-hospital and inter-facility patients during transport by ground. The CCT RN must perform autonomously utilizing medical protocols and advanced skills under the direction of the assigned medical director. The CCTRN utilizes critical thinking and evidenced based clinical process to provide comprehensive care to the patient and must document that process on the patient record. This position will serve as a resource for all Marion County Fire Rescue (MCFR) paramedics and Ocala Regional Medical Center (ORMC) RN's by sharing skills and clinical knowledge. The CCTRN must be effective in both written and verbal communications, and be able to work calmly and confidently in a high stress environment with patients, peers, families and other internal/external personnel. The CCTRN is responsible for carrying out the mission and goals set forth by MCFR and ORMC assuring that safety remains the highest priority throughout the transport continuum. The CCTRN shall function as a field training officer, if needed and will be an active participant with Quality Assurance.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

CCTU - The CCTRN may be required to act without direct supervision, must be able to exercise good judgment and provide guidance to their team. Supervision may be received from the MCFR EMS Captain, Daily Shift Commanders, the Division Chief, EMS and/or ORMC, CNO , EMS Manager and Director of TICU or designee as required. Work is performed on a shift basis with available shift schedules of varying duration upon assignment. TICU shifts, and emergency work after hours and on holidays will be required.

TICU - The Critical Care RN (CCRN), when covering shifts in the TICU, is responsible to Charge Nurse, Nursing Coordinator and Nursing Director for the delivery of quality patient care utilizing the nursing process. The quality of care given will be in keeping with the philosophy and objectives of the hospital and the Department of Nursing and will maintain and support the standards of nursing care and practice in order to meet the health care needs of patients, their families and the community.

The Registered Nurse prescribes delegates and coordinates all nursing care provided throughout the hospital. The RN supervises patient care support personnel. The RN is responsible for meeting all standards associated with performance, nursing practice and nursing care.


What qualifications you will need:
  • 2 year Associates Degree required
  • FL RN Licensure required or obtained within 90 days of hire if licensed with applicable RN Compact Licensure
  • Emergency Medical Paramedic
  • BLS
  • ACLS & PALS within 90 days of hire/transfer
  • TNCC within six months of hire/transfer
