We offer services such as mental health, harm reduction and abstinence addiction recovery, peer support, resource navigation, and neurofeedback all in one place. EMERGENCE is willing to train the right person.

Peer Support Specialist Responsibilities:



  • Provide peer support to LGBTQIA+ individuals who struggle with mental health and/or addiction
  • Help clients achieve goals
  • Serve as a bridge for community members to connect with treatment and recovery through shared community values and identity
  • Empower clients to connect with the recovery community and find long-term recovery
  • Collaborate with peers, counselors, supervisors, and community partners
  • Document activities and uphold the highest standards of professional ethics
  • Meet clients in the community to support and advocate for them during medical appointment



Minimum Peer Support Specialist Requirements:



  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 40 Hours of OHA Accredited Peer Support Training OR willingness to complete this as soon as training program is offered after hire
  • Demonstrated experience serving the LGBTQIA+ community
  • Desire to help people suffering mental health and/or addiction achieve long-term recovery
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • ALL EMERGENCE STAFF ARE REQUIRED TO BE FULLY VACCINATED AGAINST COVID-19


Preferred Qualifications:



  • CRM credential preferred
  • Knowledge of local resources and supports


  • Experience with the following: working with the LGBTQIA+ community, working with the BIPOC community, evidence-based trauma modalities, working with adolescents and/or adults in gender-confirming therapy, treating eating disorders, treating co-occurring disorders chemical dependency.
