Advanced Lead Analytical Researcher

The successful candidate will provide advanced analytical expertise and oversee execution of analytical method development for characterization of new membrane and filter products at SWTS to provide a scientific understanding of the products and to ensure data-driven decisions during the development and scale up to manufacturing. Additionally, the candidate will provide expertise globally for analysis of materials, components and finished goods, and participate in team problem solving to ensure scientifically sound data to guide streamlined troubleshooting, design of experiments, and cost of quality improvement activities.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Consults with engineers and scientists on analysis, interpretation, and development of complex analytical tests and measurements
  • Evaluates scope and research analytical methods to propose appropriate, impactful methods to characterize new or existing products
  • Provides technical expertise on laboratory atypical or unexpected results, leads troubleshooting, guidance and oversite of laboratory investigations
  • Responsible for implementation of new method/technologies in the R&D Laboratory
  • Researches, designs and executes experimental protocols, including qualitative and quantitative testing of complex samples using chromatography, spectroscopy and/ or physical testing techniques
  • Leads sourcing new analytical equipment, performs qualifications, authors equipment SOPs and technical documentation for new equipment
  • Ability to train and/or mentor junior department employees
  • Ability to work efficiently under tight timelines and achieve results, while maintaining high quality of work
  • Ability to communicate complex scientific information across multiple levels of organization
  • Good knowledge and experience with Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) and safe laboratory practices



Basic Qualifications



  • M.S. in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, material science or another related scientific field and 7 years of laboratory experience including use of advanced analytical techniques such as: GC-MS, LC-MS, ICP-MS, FTIR, NMR, GPC, and/or similar
  • Experience with thin film and/or polymer chemistry characterization testing
  • Experience with analytical method development and validation/verification using a variety of
  • Demonstrated effective problem-solving abilities, and analytical data



Desired Qualifications



  • Experience with statistical analysis and design of experiment for analytical method development
  • Mindset on open collaboration and innovation
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of characterization and advanced filters, membranes and water chemistry
