Veolia Water Technologies & Solutions is seeking an Project Chemist to join our Research and Development Center located in Richmond VA. The successful candidate will provide functional and technical assistance in the laboratory, including performing chemical and biological analyses, conducting research both in the laboratory and field, set up and execution of sampling and testing programs, applies knowledge of principles and practices of chemistry, biology, microbiology and mathematics required in an analytical laboratory setting, use standard good laboratory practices and QA/QC procedures, and other applicable standards to collect and analyze samples of water, wastewater, and industrial process water for a variety of environmental test conditions.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Responsible for performing basic and instrumental laboratory analyses as associated with water and wastewater treatment.
  • Wet chemistry analyses including colorimetric, titrations, gravimetric, and microbial analysis.
  • Instrumental analyses via UV/VIS, ICP, ICP/MS, TOC, GC, GC/MS, IC, Lachat Flow Analyzer, and AFS.
  • Perform proper maintenance and calibration procedures for analytical instrumentation.
  • Provide analytical support for both business groups including sales & marketing and research & development.
  • Maintain all laboratory operations in accordance to the quality assurance plan including maintenance and equipment logs.
  • Prepare and write technical papers and reports.
  • Adheres to all Treatment Solutions safety requirements and procedures.



Basic Requirements



  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry preferred; Chemical engineering, biology, or environmental science acceptable.
  • One to three years' experience in an environmental laboratory setting preferred; water and wastewater treatment experience with a knowledge of sludge treatment preferred.
  • Technical understanding & working knowledge of applicable instrumentation & Standard EPA methodologies related to water and wastewater treatment
