Manufacturing Software Engineer

The Manufacturing Software Engineer will have a solid understanding and experience in MES systems and shop floor automation and control system data collection. In this role you will work with cross functional teams and management to architect and develop a custom MES system to facilitate data collection activities for tracking materials, equipment, labor, and scrap. Your skills will be used visualize the process metrics in creating reports and live dashboards. You will develop knowledge and skills in Smart Manufacturing environments to provide input to the long-term manufacturing strategy.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Create and maintain software applications and database that support manufacturing in a variety of languages VC++, VBA, C#, Java, ASP.Net, MySQL, Tableau.
  • Create and maintain automated interface between the SAP ERP and MES system to support manufacturing processes using REST, SOAP, SAP GUI, and ABAP.
  • Oversee the day-to-day administration, monitoring, troubleshooting, maintenance, and ongoing support of the MES system.
  • Create and maintain documentation for software usage, maintenance, and other requirements and keep current for as-installed reference and troubleshooting.
  • Works closely with management, engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to design and develop intuitive custom applications to reduce downtime, maintain regulatory compliance, and improve productivity.
  • Create and execute advance SQL queries to produce process metrics, reports, and live dashboards.
  • Liaison for manufacturing and corporate IT for project implementation.
  • Remain up to date on latest industry trends in MES and Smart Manufacturing.



Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:



  • Support the manufacturing process by troubleshooting process software, workstation, and network issues.


The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience developing, maintaining, and supporting manufacturing software and reports for a MES system. You're confident in your abilities to effectively troubleshoot, and problem solve and versatile in your ability to work both independently and in a cross functional team-oriented environment. You're also proactive in prioritizing and executing tasks.

Core Qualifications

Required:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Software Engineering, Information Technology, or relevant degree
  • 5 years or more experience programming, preferably in a manufacturing environment


Preferred:



  • Experience with ISA95, OPC UA, MES, and Smart Manufacturing Systems.
  • Experience writing device communication libraries.
  • Experience with development process tools such as GitHub and Jira.
  • Experience with Tableau
  • Experience with SAP, SAP GUI, ABAP, REST and SOAP APIs
  • Experience with database applications such as MySQL.
  • Experience with VC++, VBA, C#, ASP.Net



Other Useful Skills and Abilities:



  • Knowledge of networking architectures and routing.
  • Knowledge of database modelling, management, and retrieval (MySQL and Microsoft SQL Server)
  • Knowledge of client server architecture and communication protocols.
  • Knowledge of multi-threaded architecture.
  • Knowledge of MES and Smart Manufacturing systems.
  • Ability to convert user requirements into process and system designs and build sustainable solutions.

  • Compensation-- The salary range is tied to the market for similarly benchmarked roles. The range is not an absolute, but a guide, and offers will be based on the individual candidate's knowledge, skills, experience, and market conditions, as well as internal peer equity. Depending upon all of the preceding considerations for the final selected individual candidate, the offer may be lower or higher than the stated range: $100,000 - $120,000 annually
