Your Opportunity

Smithfield Foods Packaged Meats Division is currently looking for a Maintenance Storeroom Technician to assist the overall operations of the industrial parts department. The position is responsible for receiving parts and supplies, maintaining inventory balances in SAP and issue parts and supplies to coworkers.



Core Responsibilities

Responsibilities and tasks are written as follows:

    Receive and sort incoming parts and supplies
  • Identify and distribute mechanical, electrical, plumbing, pneumatic, and other devices
  • Assist all plant personnel with the acquisition of material goods, from/to or related to the facility
  • Perform data entry and learn new computer systems (SAP)
  • Maintain proper storeroom inventory levels (regular cycle counts)
  • Coordinate the loading and unloading of trucks (as needed)
  • Move materials, pick and deliver goods throughout the facility (as needed)
  • Arrange items on shelves, racks bins
  • Keep stockroom clean and organized
  • Create kits for projects, communicate with mechanics
  • Filing, cycle counts and audits
  • Communicate, written and oral, with co-workers, vendors, and the public using telephone and email

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Associates degree or planner/inventory background preferred
  • Have and maintain a valid driver's licenses
  • Ability to work with a diverse workforce
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Basic mechanical aptitude
  • Follow safety/LTT procedures

  • Ability to remain on feet for 8 or more hours a day.
  • Climb up and down ladders and stairs frequently.
