Inventory Control Specialist

Job Summary Works independently under supervision, responsible for handling all production critical on-hand inventories - allocated, reserved, consignment, furniture and/or customer owned. Collaborate with Sales and Operations monthly planning to ensure adequate on-hand quantities are maintained. Verifies inventory orders received and shipped and ensures that the orders are properly accounted for in the company's records. Handles all paperwork and follows all procedures to meet this goal. Mitigate risk of inventory investment through review, challenge and reconciliation of inventory and proactively leads dating and obsolescence. Accounts for all defective or damaged products and follows up with appropriate corrective action. Ensures all orders are properly accounted for in the company's records. Manages and reconciles all cycle counts and physical inventories. This position requires knowledge and application of Avantor operating systems for inventory control.

Major job duties and responsibilities
  • Maintains and updates inventory records.
  • Creates efficient and accurate inventory management procedures.
  • Performs inventory management related functions such as monitoring slow moving and dead or expired inventory
  • Oversees and handles physical inventories and reporting.
  • Reviews and reconciles expiry date issues, duplicate shipments, shipment overages, wrong goods received and no charge replacements.
  • Directs and runs inventory counts as required by company policy and audit procedures.
  • Reconciles inventory discrepancies in various operating systems for a complete and accurate count. Take steps to correct and prevent discrepancies.
  • Conducts searches to locate products within the system.
  • Works on problem solving any inventory related issues in relation to receiving, shipping, purchasing.
  • Handles the inventory quality and accuracy assurance programs and completes required daily, weekly and monthly inventory related reports.
  • When necessary, processes proper documentation to generate a prompt credit transaction. Takes appropriate action on product that is not in saleable condition.
  • Develops all necessary reports and documentation to facilitate accurate inventory counts including records of all audits, counts and adjustments.
  • Communicates timing of physical inventories and any variances.
Knowledge skills and abilities
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Knowledge of inventory management procedures and general warehousing terminology and practices
  • Familiarity with warehouse and inventory management systems required ECC/SAP
  • Basic math skills

  • Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office with proficiency in Word and advanced proficiency using Excel
  • Self-motivated, able to work under minimal supervision and ability to understand and complete projects and tasks

ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL EFFORT (Under Typical Positions)

Typically works in an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation and a normal range of temperature and noise level.

Work assignments are diversified. Examples of past precedent are used to resolve work problems. New alternatives may be developed to resolve problems.

A frequent volume of work and deadlines impose strain on routine basis.

Minimal physical effort is required. Work is mostly sedentary but does require walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting or carrying objects that typically weigh less than 10 lbs.

Avantor is committed to equitable compensation practices. The compensation range for this role is:

$55,000.00 - $94,000.00

Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as minimum and preferred qualifications, knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience and location.
