Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia is seeking new graduate Registered Nurses (RN) to be a part of the Surgical Specialty - Medical/Surgical Adult Health Rotation Team.

All Surgical units at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital participate in the Adult Health Rotation "AHeart" program. As a new nurse you will rotate Surgical Specialty units throughout the program.

The units will include:

General Surgical Unit, Inpatient Back, Neck and Spine Center,Burn TraumaMed/Surg, General Med/Surg units.

As a new grad you will be oriented successfully to work in each of these units. The Adult Surgical Specialty Rotation will give you a solid med/surgical foundation.

During your second year of the program, you may choose to join a med/surg unit that you have grown to love, be consider for a specialty unit or one of our internship programs. If you have a continuing interest in unit rotation you may also join the Sentara Resource Pool after 18 months in this program.

As aRegistered Nursewith Sentara, you can excel in your career. There are many different specialties where you can perform and grow your nursing skills in areas of interest to you. If you desire, there are promotional opportunities into leadership or to advance your level of care in a variety of settings. This position's primary duties include assessing/admitting patients, rounding checks, giving medications, talking with family members, and being responsible for the overall care of your patients. Job Summary

The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing.
