Job Summary and Qualifications

JOB SUMMARY

The Consulting Systems Engineers' role is to ensure the stability and integrity of key HCA applications utilized throughout the enterprise. This role will focus on Linux/AIX and db2 centric applications. This is achieved by planning, designing and developing systems management applications across the organization. In addition, the CSE (consulting systems engineer) will participate with the architecting, installation, monitoring, maintenance, support and optimization of all system and application hardware, software and communication links. These responsibilities will also require SME knowledge skillsets across the server, network and monitoring application technologies, services and components. Participate in projects affecting the department. Build and maintain tools for deployment, monitoring and operations.

You will prioritize and troubleshoot customer issues and help to resolve them. This individual will also analyze and resolve hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user and internal team training where required. Position often will interact daily with CSS, testing services, product analysts, BA's, leadership, design and build, business owners/partners, vendors and other IT&S staff/management. Excellent written and oral communications for presentations, technical white papers and networking proposals will be required.

The ability to facilitate and document next steps from a meeting to move projects forward are also a key role for this position. Project management and problem management skills are required to effectively meet HCA business objectives and SLAs. The Consulting Systems Engineer will provide leadership and mentorship to other members of the team in pursuit of these objectives. They will build strong relationships within and outside the organization and stay engaged with industry standards and advances relevant to their roles and responsibilities and work introduce those to the organization. The Consulting Systems Engineer will work to identify gaps and opportunities for stability and growth of MyHealthOne or the Consumer Patient Portal (CPP) and other supported applications and engage their team as well as others to achieve those goals in accordance with company directives and standards. This role will be responsible for leading resolution to service impacting events as well developing solutions to automate and remediate issues both proactively as well as results of service impacting events. They will lead and participate in Root Cause Analysis and lead in user experience alerting and monitoring. The Consulting Systems Engineer must exhibit communication and leadership skills to maintain positive business relations with employees, customers, business partners, peers and other IT&S personnel.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Support one or more key areas including UNIX, AIX, and Redhat Linux.

Management of Open Shift, Docker/Containers Kubernetes

Support OS environment running one or more databases including SQL / DB2 desirable.

Support DataPower appliances and WebSphere portal.

Foundational network knowledge (CCENT / CCNA.)

Work with DBA, Network, UNIX, and Application Engineers for troubleshooting purposes.

Provide support for build team strategic / tactical initiatives.

Demonstrate written and verbal communication skills and work collaboratively across technical disciplines.

Perform complex tasks within operating system in a large-scale production environment.

Working knowledge and experience with key ITIL/AGILE processes is required.

Troubleshoot applications; development coding, debugging, testing and delivery within a large enterprise production environment are highly desirable.

Develop tools and scripts in PowerShell and other programing languages (C, Java Perl etc.) to automate and engage the platforms supported

Demonstrate a solid understanding of computer performance metrics and tools, to include understanding of CPU utilization levels, CPU and disk queuing, I/O response times, and other key performance indicators and their impact on performance.

Understanding of Splunk and other logging applications to perform adequate troubleshooting. Training/Mentoring peers and other IT&S staff

Participate and lead troubleshooting and support

Installs, configures, and maintains the organization's Systems and Alert Management applications.

Acts as primary organizational interface with vendor and provides internal analysis and support.

Design, install, configure, administer, tune, and optimize application systems servers and related components to achieve high availability and performance of the various business applications supported.

Configures all new implementations, and developing processes and procedures for ongoing management of the server environment.

Expert recommendations for upgrades and improvements.

Supports development of technical standards and application uses.

Resolves alert management problems and offers technical assistance to users.

Prepares specifications and programs of a highly technical or complex nature.

Consulting level position requiring advanced technical knowledge in all areas of applications availability, system design, and update, storage, and retrieval methods.

Analyzes user specifications and requirements.

Bachelor's degree preferred

Qualified candidates must have 7+ years of relevant work experience required

Minimal Travel required.

On Call work will be required.
