This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite at Executive Drive and remote.

DESCRIPTION

This position represents one of the seven elements of a compliance program. As such, training and education are critical to the process of ensuring employees understand all the relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies that govern the function of our organization. Training and education also ensure that employees know how - and why - they need to adhere to them in their day-to-day work routines. Training and education are more than just formalities in the onboarding process. In addition to mandatory onboarding related responsibilities, this position develops and collaborates with others to implement mandatory workplace training that is ongoing, keeping employees updated on new policies and regulations.

In addition to the wide variety of tools and software alternatives relied upon to create new and update existing training opportunities, to be successful in this position the applicant will be able to demonstrate a high degree of confidence using one or more of these tools and their associated delivery systems. The applicant should be able to express a strong grasp of multiple training and education principles in a health care environment, while exhibiting confidence commensurate with considerable experience in this profession.

The applicant selected for this position will be able to quickly synthesize training and education opportunities and data and transform that data into useable/reproducible blocks of education materials that can be combined in an orderly fashion to serve the overall mission of our compliance program. This individual will be comfortable in a workplace setting that varies by mission expectations between local and remote. As such, the applicant should be able to demonstrate a strong independent work ethic. As further described below, this position is expected to perform additional and collateral duties consistent with the needs of the program.

Involves oversight of the key compliance related activities affecting the ongoing establishment and maintenance of a culture of safety, non-discrimination, and acceptance at the University of California. Includes compliance governance, policies and procedures, training and education, communication and reporting, internal monitoring, and auditing. Recommends response, prevention, and disciplinary standards for compliance issues. Ensures alignment with applicable laws and ethical standards of the organization. Activities include complaint investigations of potential allegations of improper behavior, "whistleblowing," and improper government activities.

Develops, implements and administers healthcare compliance policies, procedures and practices in one or more UC locations. Provides healthcare compliance advice, training, investigates healthcare compliance related reports and verifies that deficiencies are corrected. Develops employee communication and training. Ensures alignment with federal and state laws, and University policies and procedures. May provide advice and direction to other compliance professionals, as appropriate. Normally receives general instructions on routine work with detailed instruction on new or more complex assignments.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Seven (7) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in related area plus three years of related experience/training. Note: Related experience involves the production and presentation of a variety of healthcare compliance related training, risk assessments related to training, trend analysis related to training, cradle to grave investigative experience in a healthcare compliance area.

  • Experience and proven success in knowledge of ethics and compliance profession, theories and systems of internal control, and professional compliance and investigations standards.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Legal writing and analysis/paralegal.
  • Data mining and management certificate.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Powerpoint.
  • Healthcare Compliance Experience.
  • Association of Workplace Investigations Certificate.
  • Healthcare Compliance Professional Certificate.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

Pay Transparency Act Full Salary Range: $63,400 - $142,800 Annually

The University of California, San Diego is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience. The full salary range for this position is defined as the Full Pay Range. The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position defined as the Expected Pay Scale. Placement within the Expected Pay Scale is determined by internal equity, relevant qualifications, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).

Job offer is contingent on successful engagement in the UC COVID-19 Vaccination program (fully vaccinated with documented proof or approved exception/deferral).
