Position Summary:

The Break Relief Pool (BRP) Registered Nurse serves in a pool that understands and uses established nursing practices, processes and the appropriate standard of care to deliver skilled, high-quality patient care among the Hospital's emergency, ICU, medical/surgical and telemetry units while relieving other licensed RNs during break/meal periods. The BRP RN demonstrates an ability to exercise sound clinical nursing judgment and critical thinking in an efficient and effective manner. The BRP RN demonstrates proficiency in the coordination of patient care and is responsible for collaborating with members of the healthcare team.

Reports To: Assistant Chief Nursing Officer

Supervises: None

Position Requirements:

Licensure/ Certification/Registration:

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of California.
  • BCLS certification required
  • ACLS certification required
  • PALS certification required
  • Hospital Fire & Safety certification required within 60 days of hire.

Education:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Baccalaureate in Nursing or equivalent preferred.
  • Successfully pass Pharmacology test.
  • BKAT test.
  • Cardiac Arrhythmia test.
  • Ventilator Competency is to be completed within 30 days of hire.

Experience:

  • Must have one-year of acute-care hospital experience in either of the following areas: (a) Med/Surg/Tele or (b) ED/ICU

Special Qualifications:

  • Hear/speak adequately to communicate with and be understood by staff, patients, physicians and general public.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Reads, writes, speaks and comprehends English language.
