Description

The Support Team Manager will work with a team of Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to support the needs of a geographically based support team of approximately 25-30 people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Support Team Manager will have knowledge of the support needs of each person on their team. This includes individual plans, goals, employment supports, medical, behavioral and care needs, natural supports, transportation needs, activities of daily living and resources and entitlements. The Support Team Manager is also responsible for all aspects of the management of the Sr. DSP and DSPs on their team.

Responsibilities:

  1. Create a positive atmosphere that encourages collaboration and teamwork.
  2. Work with the team to develop new ideas and strategies to overcome challenges.
  3. Oversee support for each person on the geographically based support team.
  4. Actively work with individuals to assist them to maintain and improve levels of skill and/or independence.
  5. Collaborating with the person and their team to develop and implement individual schedules for each person.
  6. Build effective relationships with each person, their team, and their natural supports. This may include employers, community members, families, caregivers, residential agencies, and Coordinators of Community Service.
  7. Collaborate with the Administrators regarding the intake and admission process and participate as needed. This may include attending school IEPs and participating in initial visits in the home, the community, and/or the center.
  8. Provide on-call coverage as part of the on-call rotation, typically one week every two months. On-call requires being available outside of normal business hours to manage staffing and emergency situations and rare emergency coverage.
  9. Provide all aspects of front-line management to Sr. DSP and DSPs, which includes regular coaching and feedback. Complete performance reviews in an effective and timely manner.
  10. Participate in the hiring process for Sr. DSP and DSPs.
  11. Collaborate with the Training Department to ensure 90-day onboarding is complete for all new direct reports. Ensure each direct report has the necessary training and certifications to perform job duties. Collaborate with direct reports, Administrators, and the Human Resources department regarding ongoing training and development.
  12. Follow HR processes and guidance regarding performance management, training and development, disciplinary processes, and employee changes.
  13. Conduct training as assigned, e.g. Mandt, First Aid, and CPR.
  14. Ensure staff complete all required documentation in a timely, concise, accurate, and understandable manner, e.g. Paylocity, incident reports, MARs, datasheets, etc.
  15. Demonstrate knowledge of, and compliance to, agency policies and procedures.
  16. Demonstrate knowledge of, and compliance to, state and agency regulations, including staff ratios and requirements.
  17. Support the Quality Coordinator and Administrator in the investigation of incidents as part of the incident reporting process.
  18. Attend and participate in meetings as assigned.
  19. Responsible for all aspects of the program in the absence of the director.
  20. Complete other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Qualifications:

  1. Must be at least 18 years old.
  2. Bachelor's degree in related field; 3 years of experience in human services; 2 years of supervisory experience.
  3. Experience with behavior management preferred.
  4. Must have a clean driving and criminal history.
  5. A valid driver's license is required (must be 21 years of age or older to drive busses).
  6. Certified Medication Technician (CMT) certification, or ability to obtain CMT Certification within the first 90 days of employment, MANDT, First aid, and CPR.

Physical Requirements:

  1. This job operates primarily in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
  2. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  3. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  4. Ability to lift/move 40 lbs. frequently, up to 100 lbs. occasionally; perform safe individual transfers. Equal parts sitting, standing, lifting, and bending.
  5. Ability to verbally communicate thoughts clearly, to document, to remember information, to organize.
Salary Description
$42,000 to $50,000 per year
