Transcription Department

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUWMC) Transcription Department receives several hundred outside physician referrals a day. These outside providers are referring their patients to been seen at one or more of OSUWMC specialties. It is the responsibility of the transcription department to transcribe the info from the referrals or orders into our Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system so that the patients can be scheduled for an appointment or procedure. In addition to transcribing, it is also the departments responsibility to electronically file any attached documents, like records or labs, which accompany a referral. These documents are separated by category and indexed into patient charts.

Opportunity

This job offers an opportunity to gain experience working in the medical field learning medical terminology and referral process flows. We offer training and work from home opportunities, once fully trained. Several of our student employees have found employment opportunities within the medical center after graduation.

Job Requirements

• Excellent computer navigation skills with the ability to multitask using multiple systems

• Exceptional reading and comprehension skills and enjoys looking at detailed information

• Reliable and motivated to achieve team and individual productivity goals

• Desire to contribute to our mission statement; To improve health in Ohio and across the world through innovation in research, education and patient care.
