What will you do in this role?
- Perform technical residential plan reviews to ensure compliance with the Virginia Residential Code, County Policies and Industry Standards
- Provide superior customer service by assisting Designers, Contractors and Owners with resolving difficult technical problems by providing code compliant solutions
- Assist customers in navigating the different programs required for permitting
- Brainstorm different approaches to resolve customer issues
- Serve as a member on Department/Division Process Action Teams
Preferences
- 2-3 years progressively responsible building/residential plan review, inspections or code enforcement experience in residential building
- Demonstrated experience in using building plans during the design, plan review, construction and/or inspection process for residential construction projects
- Demonstrated expertise and ability to thoroughly review building plans for compliance with the Virginia Residential Code
- Experience assisting Designers and Contractors with resolving difficult technical problems to provide a Code compliant solution
- Ability to maintain accurate records and files on all plans and specifications reviewed
- Good to above average computer skills
- Background working with the public in a local government setting.
Entry Salary Range - $62,613-$77,453
Schedule Requirements
This position works a standard Monday-Friday schedule, working 37.5 hours per week.
This position has the ability to telework 2 days per week after an initial probationary period.
Special Requirements
Must become certified as a Technical Assistant to the Building Official in accordance with the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code and the Virginia Certification Standards.
