Summary

MLPN Position Summary:

In collaboration with the Registered Nurse (RN), provides safe, quality care for patients according to individualized care plan that supports patient/resident outcomes. Treats all patients with dignity and respect. Assists with oversight of non-clinical and support staff personnel.

A Day in the Life of an MLPN at MyMichigan Health:



  • (20%)* Assesses patient health care needs, nursing care requirements and the delivery of nursing care for all assigned patient, recognizing the specific individual needs of the neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient.
  • (20%)* Plans and prioritizes care required to meet assigned patients' health care needs.
  • (20%)* Implements nursing actions in accordance with established standards of nursing practice and established policy.
  • (20%)* Evaluates the effectiveness of nursing care to ensure responsible and appropriate care is rendered to patients.
  • (20%)* Self-Management and accountability for delivery of responsible patient care, demonstrates effective communication skills and interpersonal relationships. Assumes responsibility for own continued development and assists with the development of other staff members.
