What you'll be doing...

You will be responsible for ensuring service delivery and reliability of Verizon's world class Voice, Video, and Data networks, and at the best cost. Your role will involve leading and developing a high-performing, 24x7 team to effectively perform network management responsibilities, drive project completion, and ensure our effectiveness in responding to real-time escalation issues. The team that you will lead performs the installation, maintenance, and preventative maintenance of TDM Switching, Transport, Fios/FTTP PON, and Power infrastructure within Verizon's Central Office facilities. We are transforming our network and constantly innovating to enhance the customer experience; you play a vital role in changing the way our customers live, work, and play.

  • Leading, motivating, and developing a high-performing team of about 15-20 employees while driving change to meet strategic business goals.
  • Interpreting collective bargaining labor agreements, participating in the employee grievance process, and managing bargained-for, unionized employees.
  • Monitoring internal metrics and establishing supportive, innovative, or corrective plans to ensure optimal performance levels and financial efficiency are achieved.
  • Providing technical assistance and communicating technical information and status to customer service centers, technical support organizations, and management teams.
  • Responding to out-of-hours outages, emergencies and/or escalations, as well as coordinating the management, and communication, of major network outages.
  • Developing and implementing global response plans to network-impacting events.
  • Mentoring and sharing best practices of telecommunications equipment and technologies.
  • Driving safety, quality, and productivity through regular field visits, work observations, and inspections.
  • Driving results, using performance data to effectively deploy resources within budget.
  • Managing special team projects and outlining project plans to ensure timelines and deliverables are met.

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Willingness to be on-call after hours, holidays, and on weekends.
  • Experience in managing multidisciplinary teams and organizational budgets.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Willingness to travel.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • A degree in business administration, business management, or engineering.
  • Experience in the telecommunications industry.
  • Experience with network hubs/access technologies and data centers.
  • Knowledge of technical environments, AC/DC power infrastructure, and engineering or installation standards (ex. IP72202).
  • Experience successfully leading teams through cultural transformation, with proven track record of performance in productivity, quality and safety measurements.
  • Experience leading teams that contain bargained-for employees.
  • Experience with operations support systems (i.e. CoFEE, vRepair, KIRKE,MASTARS, Espresso, ETMS, BAAIS National, Smarts, OASIS, F & E, Netpro, MECCA, TCOMS).
  • Strong PC skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Suite, etc.).
  • Experience using virtual collaboration tools (i.e. Zoom, BlueJeans, Slack, MS teams, etc.).
