Position Overview

Job Summary:

Responsible for the set up, and function of all CNC lathes to ensure quality parts are provided to the customer.

Duties and Responsibilities

Roles & Responsibilities:

* Set up and operate any and all CNC lathes and mills in a safe and efficient manner.

* Set up, monitor, and interact with robotic tender system(s) in a safe and efficient manner.

* Comfortable in creating new/altering existing CNC programs that utilize robotic tenders.

* Callup programs and set-up tooling for CNC lathes.

* Edit CNC lathe programs as necessary.

* Measure parts and make tool corrections as CNC lathe is running production

* Instruct less skilled employees in the operation or set up of any CNC lathes and mills.

* Perform inspections of parts using precision measuring instruments.

* Perform daily upkeep and routine maintenance, keeping equipment and production area in good working order.

* Ensure that correct cutting insert is used for type of material

* Follow instructions; written and/or verbal; from the production supervisors.

* Produce high-quality, high-volume parts, with emphasis on reducing cycle time.

* Insure that all parts are cleaned, counted, de-burred, assembled and handled properly.

* Comply with and support all aspects of the company's quality management program.

* Must wear all PPE required for the specific work area

* Maintain a clean and safe work area.

* Inventory and document tooling and inserts.

* All other tasks as assigned by company.

Skills and Experience

Reasoning Ability and Other Skills:

* Knowledge of electrical and mechanical equipment, fixtures, and codes.

* General understanding of basic machine operation and tool grinding.

* Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

* Knowledge of proper use of safety equipment, i.e. safety glasses, ear plugs, and work boots where necessary.

* Ability to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.

* Is consistently at work and on time; Ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent; Arrives at meetings and appointments on times.

* Follows instructions, responds to management direction; Takes responsibility for own actions; Keeps commitments.

* Asks for and offers help when needed.

* Displays original thinking and creativity; Meets challenges with resourcefulness; Generates suggestions for improving work; Develops innovative approaches and ideas.

* Prioritizes and plans work activities; Uses time efficiently; Plans for additional resources; Develops realistic action plans.

Required Qualifications:

* Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills normally acquired through a high school diploma or GED.

* At least three (3) years experience operating a CNC lathe.

* Must have knowledge of set up and operation of all CNC lathes in area.

* Must be able to use precision measuring instruments.

* Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and drawings

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

* Lifting up to 30 pounds

* Occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or bend.

* Lifting and loading up to 40 pounds

* Occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch.

* Bend over approximately 20% of the time.

* Use of hands and arms to reach for, grasp and manipulate objects.

* Work with and handle parts in cutting oil and kerosene.

* Work usually takes place in a manufacturing environment where conditions can be reflective of the outside elements.
