Job Summary

Responsible for the orderly upkeep of the plant and the surrounding company premises.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain designated area of the shop and yard.
  • Remove trash from shop and office area and deposit into trash bins.
  • Clean rest rooms, lunchroom, and shop offices by using mops, brooms, and janitorial supplies.
  • Assist in Lawn moving and weeding on company grounds.
  • Maintain written records of janitorial supplies and submit this information to supervisor on a timely basis.
  • Remove shavings from machines and run chip ringer to remove cutting oil.
  • Operate power sweeper, fork truck, and remove trash from designated areas.
  • Any other tasks assigned by management.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Regular attendance and punctuality is required
  • Overtime, including weekends, as needed could be mandatory
  • Must wear all PPE required for the specific work area

Essential Qualifications

  • Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills normally acquired through a high school diploma or GED.
  • Six 6 months janitorial experience or three 3 months as Janitor B at Continental.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a forklift certification.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but involved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to prioritize workload and complete tasks in a timely manner
  • Knowledge of proper use of safety equipment i e safety glasses ear plugs and work boots where necessary

Physical Requirements

  • Bend over and lift up to 35 pounds
  • Occasionally stool kneel and crouch
  • Stand and walk for up to two 2 hours at a time
  • Move trash dumpsters of up to 300 pounds by pushing
  • Work can take place in the outside elements
  • Work usually takes place in a manufacturing warehouse environment where conditions can be reflective of the outside elements
