Spacecraft Manufacturing & Integration System Engineer - Advanced Development Programs

The Advanced Development Programs (ADP) Business Unit is Blue Origin's team dedicated to developing mission architectures, creating, and fostering new technologies into our existing offerings, building our next generation of leaders, and commercializing new platforms, such as our planned Lunar Lander program, Blue Moon (Link: ), our planned commercial space station, Orbital Reef (Link: ), and other bold space destinations programs that fuel Blue Origin's growth and further its mission. As part of a diverse and hardworking team of engineers, you will contribute to the definition, development, and execution of the integration of a spacecraft. We are looking for Manufacturing and System Engineers of all skill levels as we expand our portfolio of space vehicles. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced and often uncertain environment, contributing to innovative solutions, while demonstrating personal leadership, technical competence, and attention to detail. As an Integration System Engineer, you will support the execution of special projects within Advanced Development Programs. This includes liaising between ADP and various support groups to ensure critical hardware is delivered on-time. Other responsibilities include early Build/Flow development and trade study support to ensure concepts can be manufactured within schedule and budget requirements. You will be responsible for identifying system level integration needs as they arise within new designs and creating roadmaps to drive the development to completion. At times you will personally marshal critical hardware to maintain schedule.

Qualifications:

  • Passion for Blue Origin's mission: Millions of people living and working in space!
  • B.S./B.A. degree in engineering
  • Extensive experience with Design For Manufacture/Integration principles
  • Experience with configuration management, requirements management processes, requirements change processes, risk management processes
  • Experience in establishing priorities in hardware procurement and fabrication and communicating these priorities to the team
  • Demonstrated ability building trusting and effective working relationships that improve team performance and deliver results
  • Broad experience in hardware manufacturing: assembly, integration, instrumentation, cleaning, non-destructive testing, leak testing, final acceptance testing of integrated hardware, fabrication, machining, etc.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Strong digital literacy (MS Office, MS Project, MS Visio, P6, Jira, Confluence)
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired:

  • Experience iterating with design engineers providing input on manufacturability, and inputs on improvements to streamline hardware fabrication
  • Experience with Build/Flow creation and driving a product from concept to completion
  • Proven record in a wide variety of hardware fabrication including but not limited to: machining, welding, assembly, bonding/adhesives, composite fab, test support, critical lifts
  • Hands on experience with building hardware desired
  • Experience with launch vehicle development, production, and operations
  • Experience across multiple portions of the product life cycle
  • Experience with human spaceflight or high-performance aircraft systems
  • Experience with Primavera (P6), DOORS, CREO, CATIA, Windchill, Procurement Management systems and Production Management Systems
  • Experience in development of launch vehicles
  • Experience in technical procedure development and execution for complex aerospace systems
