The Role:

This position is responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction for the institution's enterprise application systems. This position is part of the IS Leadership team and contributes to and has shared responsibility for the department's short term and long-term strategic plans and initiatives.

Builds relationships with business units and serves as an advocate for enterprise application utilization, support, and training. Oversees a team of technical staff that work with customers and vendors to identify, implement, and manage applications to meet business objectives. Job Duties

Operations Leadership:

  • Oversees technical staff in the operation, support and maintenance of Oracle/PeopleSoft and other enterprise applications.
  • Establish relationships with key business units and serve as an advocate for enterprise application utilization, support and training.
  • Provides analysis of business unit needs to ensure enterprise applications are performing to expectations.
  • Ongoing monitoring of Oracle/Peoplesoft utilization with ability to analyze requirements, gaps, issues, risks, and potential workflow enhancements.
  • Lead the IS governance process that reviews and approves all systems development project requests, and coordinate resources and related departmental activities.
  • In concert with the Dir of Application Development and Integrations, lead and influence decisions regarding "custom" modifications to be made to operational business applications, where appropriate.
  • Builds and manages vendor relationships to maximize the benefits the institution receives from products, services, and agreements.
  • Ensures that application inventories and documentation are maintained, such as business process guides, data governance documents, and standard operating procedures.
  • Manage operating budgets and expenses of $1.5M. Identify upcoming financial requirements and needs and prepare funding requests.
  • Responsible for developing, tracking, and analyzing key performance metrics to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of services provided.
  • As a member of the Leadership team within the Division of Information Services and Security, actively participates in envisioning strategic IT direction, goals and priorities.
  • Make recommendations and provide updates for the development of Information Services policies and procedures applicable to enterprise applications.
  • Assist in the development of the annual budget, providing justification when needed. Review and compare actual results to planned budgetary performance.

Maintain awareness of changing trends and regulations which might affect the department and act on as required:

  • Continue to develop professional skills in the IT and leadership fields through trade magazines, manuals, seminars and courses. Assists in or lead the training of staff.
  • Annually complete a minimum of 40 hours training or education on current or emerging technology with an additional 16 hours in leadership training, through trade magazines, manuals, seminars and courses.

Staff Leadership:

  • Actively engages in recruitment and hiring new employees.
  • Clearly defines performance expectations, ensure accountability, and provides ongoing informal feedback, coaching, and mentoring. Conducts formal performance. evaluations.
  • Ensures employees have necessary resources.
  • Oversees and directs the work of staff; serves as mentor, coach and leader, and resolves complaints or issues.
  • Promotes professional development opportunities.
  • Develops and fosters supportive working relationships, motivation and engagement.
  • Communicates information to staff on an ongoing basis to influence staff engagement and to be a part of a larger community.
  • Takes corrective action in a timely manner.

  • Schedules employee work hours/shifts; monitor hours worked; approve payable time and absence requests.
  • Adjusts leadership style as needed to achieve results.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field.
  • Five years of related IT experience demonstrating a progression of increasing responsibility including four (4) years of significant IT management experience.
  • Experience with high-volume, mission-critical applications and systems.
  • Knowledge of ITSM best practices.
  • Solid ability to define, develop and report on metrics and KPIs.
  • Demonstrated ability and/or experience working with students and/or co-workers from a wide range of abilities, backgrounds and experiences.
  • OR applicable combination of education and/or experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a Higher Education environment.
  • Project management experience.
  • Demonstrated participation in programs designed to promote inclusion.
  • Ability to incorporate multicultural perspectives and issues into everyday conversations.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

Salary: $91,004 - $141,000 annually

Schedule/Appointment: Monday - Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm (1 hour lunch)

Working Conditions: Work is performed in an indoor office setting with frequent in-person interactions. It is essential to be able to remain at a desk/computer workstation for prolonged periods of time, perform extensive data entry and other computer-related tasks and create/maintain filing systems for departmental records. Some evening or weekend work and/or occasional travel may be required.
