Job Summary

Perform a wide variety of activities related to the processing, storage, distribution and transport of equipment and material.

Due to the Governor's approval for the Cost of Living Adjustment to Fiscal Years 2022 and 2023, final salaries at the time of hire may be impacted, but will not be lower than what is advertised.

Responsibilities

  • Assist any staff member, faculty, student or visitor of Georgia Southern University, as appropriate
  • Deliver a wide variety of items to different locations throughout the University
  • Follow routes and time schedule
  • Load, unload, prepare, inspect and operate a delivery vehicle
  • Complete work logs
  • Deliver equipment and material to campus departments
  • Operate delivery vehicles, forklifts, and other warehouse equipment
  • Utilize material handling equipment and/or physically hand load and unload material on delivery vehicle
  • Manage accountability for all items loaded, delivered, and signed for and return delivery paperwork (signed and dated) to Central Receiving
  • Develop and maintain open communication with departmental personnel to facilitate timely and efficient on-campus delivery of equipment and material
  • Regularly check warehouse vehicles for fluid levels, proper tire pressure, and cleanliness; report potential safety issues or service needs
  • Maintain clean and accident-free workspace
  • Obey and enforce safety standards, policies, and procedures
Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Other Required Qualifications

  • Forklift certified or obtain forklift certification within six (6) months of employment

Required Experience

  • One (1) year of work experience
  • Experience in driving flatbed trucks
Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Educational Qualifications

  • Associate degree

Preferred Experience

  • Three (3) years of related experience
Proposed Salary

$13.79 per hour

  • Ability to operate forklift, service vehicle and 2.5 ton flatbed truck with hydraulic lift
