Introduction

Join a dynamic local government law office. The County Attorney's Office seeks a full-time entry level Assistant County Attorney to render legal services to the Board of County Supervisors and the various departments and agencies of the County in litigation and provision of legal advice involving a variety of tasks related to local government law. This position will assist in preparation of court pleadings, briefs and opinions, as well as attend meetings with and handle litigation for County Departments and Agencies on matters involving legal issues. This position will primarily focus mainly on matters of general legal advice and district court matters. We are looking for a candidate with strong credentials and a zealous work ethic, who has the ability to work with a team, while also being a self-starter. MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Juris Doctorate degree.

ABOUT THIS ROLE:
Performs responsible professional work in rendering legal services to the County, involving a variety of tasks related to local government legal issues. Work is performed under close supervision and reviewed by a senior level Assistant County Attorney, Deputy County Attorney, the Chief Deputy County Attorney or County Attorney; exercises professional judgment and discretion. Supervision maybe exercised over clerical assistants. Functions as entry level position in local government law office. This position will focus on work with the Department of Social Services.

PREFERENCES: We require a Juris Doctorate degree and 0-2 years of progressively responsible experience practicing law in the government or private practice. Ideal candidate will have experience working in local government and must be a member of the Bar of the State of Virginia on their hire date.

SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS:
FLSA Exempt - standard is Monday through Friday from 8:00 to 5:00; but, that can flex

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Law degree; license to practice law in Virginia. Admission to the Virginia State Bar

STARTING SALARY RANGE: $72,162.00 - $88,094.00/yr.
